Contract: Senior Product Designer, Work Management

This is an engagement through Upwork’s Hybrid Workforce Solutions (HWS) Team. Our Hybrid Workforce Solutions Team is a global group of professionals that support Upwork’s business. Our HWS team members are located all over the world.

As a Senior Product Designer on our team you’ll partner with a cross-functional squad to drive an outstanding customer experience for one of our company’s top strategic pillars—Work Management. You will own the work from framing & design thinking through user research into interaction design and implementation. You'll become part of our strong and empowering design culture and build engaging products and features that help millions of users collaborate with distributed teams!

Work/Project Scope:

• Collaborate with user researchers product managers developers analysts and others to craft customer-centric solutions that bring value to our business.

• Provide storytelling to build cross-functional and leadership alignment. Bring a strategic and systems/framework design mindset to solve at scale and across the organization.

• Demonstrate high quality design practices. This includes participation in all aspects of product design: research & discovery facilitation concepting interaction design visual execution and QA.

• Help improve the discovery and ease of use of core user journeys. User Experience will have a significant impact on the direction and roadmap of the project.

• Ensure decisions are made with appropriate data and user insights and follow existing design systems & principles while making well-informed decisions to create new patterns when needed

• Lead projects through an end-to-end design process: research concepting strategy information architecture interaction design launch and testing

• Build a variety of design artifacts to communicate your concepts to a broad range of partners and end users

• Navigate and lead through ambiguity while partnering with driven Product Managers and Engineering leads motivated to deliver value to our users and partners.

Must Haves (Required Skills):

• Has been part of and can speak to covering a larger critical business area for both sides of a marketplace-related design or a work management tool. (Ie: Monday.com Work Front Asana Basecamp Wrike etc.)

• Has been part of and can speak to covering larger critical business areas for both sides of Fintech Investment platforms or Crypto products.

• Experience working with global teams across offices and timezones

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Familiarity designing for multiple platforms including native and responsive design.

• Strong understanding of experimentation and moderated research techniques using qualitative or quantitative data to inform and measure the impact of the work.

• Has previously led facilitating design thinking workshops or design sprints or design jam sessions with peers stakeholders and leadership.
