Controller
Job Description
The Controller plays a pivotal role in the financial management of CrossCountry Consulting, reporting to the Head of Accounting. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate reporting, compliance with regulations, and efficient financial operations. This role also requires a strong understanding of financial systems, particularly Sage Intacct, Salesforce and Kantata, as well as excellent organizational and communication skills. This position is based out of our DC office and the person is expected to be in the office three days per week.
What You'll Do:
- Month-end and Year-end Close:
- Oversee the Accounting team and manage the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, transfer pricing, and financial analysis to provide timely and accurate financial information.
- Manage outsourced accounting function (third-party service provider based in India) which requires morning availability starting at 8:00 am ET or earlier when needed.
- Lead and assist with the preparation of tax and audit schedules for third-party tax advisors and auditors.
- Implement best practices and process improvements to optimize the monthly close cycle.
- Financial Reporting:
- Manage the monthly budget-to-actual variance analysis process between Accounting, FP&A team and department heads. Ensure the chart of accounts and cost centers are optimized to deliver the necessary variance information to all stakeholders.
- Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory requirements.
- Examine all financial reports and data closely to check for discrepancies. Create processes to prevent errors in data collection and calculations.
- Manage debt covenant compliance model and compliance reporting required under the Companyβs credit agreement.
- Provide regular analysis and reporting for management review, highlighting variances, financial trends, and other key metrics.
- Payroll:
- Oversee the entire payroll process to ensure timely and accurate payments to employees.
- Ensure adherence to payroll regulations and standards.
- Manage the preparation of relevant payroll financial reports, ensuring they reflect accurate payroll expenses.
- Internal Controls:
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with policies and procedures, conducting periodic audits to assess effectiveness and address any deficiencies.
- Cash Management:
- Oversee cash flow planning and ensure adequate liquidity to meet operational needs.
- Maintain a 13-week cash flow forecast.
- Systems Expertise:
- Utilize advanced knowledge of Sage Intacct, Kantata and Salesforce systems to access financial information related to monthly close activities. Knowledge of Concur (travel & expense platform) a plus.
- Optimize system use to ensure accurate data entry, integration, and reporting.
- Evaluate and implement financial systems and processes to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
- Oversee all departmental system implementations as the company continues mature
- Team Leadership:
- Motivate and lead Accounting team members by clarifying roles and providing helpful feedback.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages professional growth and excellence.Β
What You'll Bring:
- 15+ years of hands-on accounting experience in a corporate environment. Prior experience in professional services (public accounting, management consulting or advisory firm) is strongly preferred.
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Accounting.
- CPA required.
- Advanced proficiency in Accounting ERP (Sage Intacct) and Intermediate proficiency in resource management applications (Kantata) and CRM systems (Salesforce), with the ability to configure, troubleshoot, and optimize these systems.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook with advanced proficiency in Excel.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify trends, discrepancies, and anomalies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating with cross-functional teams and addressing client inquiries.
- Problem-solving mindset, with the ability to proactively identify process inefficiencies and implement effective solutions.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills, able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
