Job Description

Join a rapidly growing company revolutionizing the trucking industry! Cargomatic is the leading technology platform and digital marketplace for powering world-class, local trucking. Local trucking is the lifeblood of every regional economy, and yet this industry still relies heavily on phone calls and fax machines. Cargomatic is transforming the way goods move around metropolitan areas by connecting shippers and commercial truck drivers with mobile technology. We are solving complex, real-world problems every day and giving full transparency to the shipping process.
At Cargomatic, we are committed to finding new ways to solve complex, real-world problems for our customers. Our approach enables our employees - at all levels, in every role - to thrive in an environment of intellectual curiosity, where people are passionate about what they do and support each other to get the job done.

Cargomatic was named to the list of Built In Best Places to Work for 2023, which recognizes the benefits we offer, our people first culture and commitment to supporting our employees’ success, growth and well-being.

Role & Responsibility
Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will act as a strategic member of, and partner to, the executive team by developing and executing Cargomatic’s financial models and growth strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, direct and coordinate all operational accounting functions to optimize the performance and output of the accounting team
  • Manage the accumulation and consolidation necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results
  • Coordinate and prepare timely internal and external financial statements and reporting packages
  • Analyze financial statements including but not limited to variance analysis, profit margin analysis, and substantiation of balance sheet accounts
  • Manage and coordinate financial audits
  • Research technical accounting issues, documenting the accounting guidance and conclusions reached
  • Oversee banking and cash processes
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of accounting software and identify improvements as needed
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Driving the Netsuite integration between a parent company (Cargomatic) and newly acquired subsidiaries.

Experience and Background

  • Bachelor’s degree required; CPA required
  • Experience at a ‘Big 4’ accounting firm
  • Experience in a leadership position at a “hyper growth” company with increasing complexity
  • Ability to be both strategic and hands on while operating in a resource constrained environment
  • Experience building deep business partner relationships across the organization and with external stakeholders
  • Extremely collaborative executive with a high level of self-awareness and strong communication skills both oral and written
  • Demonstrated abilities as a hands-on builder in GAAP accounting.

ATTRIBUTES

  • Equal parts strategic and execution oriented
  • A high level of intellectual curiosity and a mentality of constant improvement
  • Solutions oriented with a bias to action
  • Smart, collaborative, and able to communicate clearly; can talk through difficult issues with colleagues and make decisions based on evidence and argument, not ego or title
  • Passionate about motivating high performance teams that deliver results
  • Experience working within an evolving, entrepreneurial, high-growth company and culture
  • High level of energy, dedication, and an unrelenting drive to succeed and win

The expected salary range for this role is $200,000 to $220,000. The actual base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and other factors permitted by law. Decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
