The Role

Metropolis is seeking a talented Controller to lead the accounting team of our fast growing company. The position oversees all accounting teams, such as accounting operations, tax, treasury, and accounts payable, and will be responsible for managing and improving the company’s accounting functions, including financial reporting, monthly and yearly close, audit, and controls and processes. A critical role for the organization, the Controller is trusted to deliver consistent, reliable results and prepare the company for rapid growth. 

Responsibilities

• Lead the accounting function, developing and implementing the strategy and structure required to support current operations and future company growth
• Set accounting policies and practices to ensure best-in-class accounting capabilities
• Oversee the general ledger, maintenance of financial records, technical accounting, preparation of financial reporting, and accounting systems 
• Produce consolidated financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and related internal financial reports on a timely basis
• Collaborate cross-functionally to understand key risks and processes in the organization to ensure appropriate business controls are maintained
• Build and develop the accounting team to deliver department goals in an efficient and effective manner
• Lead and manage specialized accounting projects and cross functional efforts
• Manage relationships with external auditors and other parties supporting technical accounting matters

Requirements 

• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Active CPA license
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited university
• Experience in public accounting and/or high growth industry strongly preferred
• Extensive knowledge of and proficiency with current accounting rules, compliance, and technical accounting; maintains a bias toward adoption of best practices
• Experience leading a team and driving performance with emphasis on continuous improvement
• Entrepreneurial mindset - self-starter who thrives on ambiguity and the opportunity to bring structure where needed
• Ability to manage time for multiple tasks to meet established deadlines
• Ability to work with a low-ego, highly collaborative, cross-functional team
• Passion for transportation, mobility, and/or proptech is a plus!

The anticipated base salary for this position is $170,000.00 to $220,000.00 annually. The actual base pay offered is determined by a number of variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant's qualifications for the position, years of relevant experience, distinctive skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location of residence and/or place of employment. Base pay is one component of Metropolis’s total compensation package, which may also include access to or eligibility for healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a lucrative stock option plan, bonus plans and more.
