We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to join our finance team. The Controller will play a critical role in overseeing and managing the financial operations of Oddball. This position reports directly to the CFO and is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial data. 

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in government contracting and financial management, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of financial transparency and accountability. We’re looking for someone who can think strategically and anticipate short-term needs for the organization and make recommendations. Highly visible role within the organization and direct access to C-Suite.

What you'll be doing:

Financial Strategy:

  • Collaborate with the CFO and executive team to develop and execute financial strategies that support the company's growth objectives.
  • Manage financial risk and develop strategies to mitigate financial challenges.

Financial Operations:

  • Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including billings, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts in conjunction with the finance department.
  • Monitor cash flow and financial performance to ensure the company's fiscal health.
  • Analyze financial data and provide insights to support strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction, revenue enhancement, and operational efficiency.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, ensuring compliance with government accounting standards (e.g., FAR, CAS).

Audit and Compliance:

  • Coordinate and manage audits, including DCAA, and annual audits.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and complete financial records in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Ensure compliance with all government contract requirements, regulations, and reporting obligations.

Government Contract Management:

  • Monitor contract performance, including billing, cost control, and compliance.
  • Participate in contract negotiations and contract modification discussions.
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure effective internal controls and compliance.
  • Stay informed about changes in government regulations and accounting standards that may impact the company.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and mentor a team of financial professionals, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support financial decision-making and process improvements.

What you’ll bring:

  • At least 10 years of accounting experience
  • Minimum 5 recent years of government contracting experience
  • 3 years as Controller or Assistant Controller
  • Unanet ERP required, Implementation experience a plus
  • Previous management experience
  • High level communication skills, written and verbal
  • Ability to work as part of a team and lead a team
  • Self-driven and able to prioritize work and meet deadlines
  • Highly proficient in Excel
  • Positive attitude, strive for success

Requirements:

  • Must be a US Citizen and able to work domestically 

Education:

  • B.A./B.S. in Accounting or Finance; MBA/MFA and or CPA a plus

Compensation:

At Oddball, it’s important each employee is compensated competitively and fairly. In alignment with state legal requirements. A range for the included position is listed below. Be advised, actual offer details are determined by job category, job location, and candidate skill level.

United States Wage Range: $100,000 – $180,000
