This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Controller in United States.
As a Controller, you will oversee the full accounting function and strengthen financial infrastructure in a fast-growing, mission-driven organization. You will be responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, maintaining audit-ready controls, and supporting strategic planning across all financial operations. This role operates at the intersection of complex healthcare finance and high-velocity startup growth, ensuring processes are scalable and compliant. You will partner closely with executive leadership to provide insights that drive business decisions and mission impact. The position offers the chance to build systems, mentor teams, and implement innovative accounting solutions in a collaborative, fully remote environment. Success in this role requires strong technical expertise, operational rigor, and a proactive mindset.

Accountabilities:

  • Manage the full accounting function including AP/AR, general ledger, month-end and year-end close, and reporting.
  • Deliver accurate, board-ready financial statements and ensure compliance with internal controls and policies.
  • Partner with FP&A on budgeting, forecasting, and cash management to support business growth.
  • Maintain compliance with Medicaid/Medicare billing, tax filings, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Select, implement, and optimize accounting systems and processes to scale with organizational growth.
  • Build automated, scalable processes to support a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Coordinate with auditors and oversee audit readiness, ensuring adherence to GAAP and other financial standards.
  • Requirements:
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a controller or senior accounting role.
  • Experience leading finance functions in a high-growth, early-stage startup.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare finance, including Medicaid/Medicare billing, value-based care, and compliance.
  • Experience with revenue cycle management, external audits, and SOC compliance.
  • Proficiency with accounting and expense management software (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, Bill.com, Brex) and advanced Excel/financial modeling skills.
  • Familiarity with HRIS and payroll systems (e.g., Rippling, Gusto, ADP).
  • Knowledge of state and federal tax compliance, including multi-state requirements.
  • Collaborative and strategic mindset with the ability to influence executive leadership.
  • Ownership-driven, proactive, and adaptable to a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Passion for supporting individuals with complex needs, including homelessness, mental illness, and substance use disorders.
