Controls Engineer

Job Title: Controls Engineer – Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)

Location: Pearland, TX, USA

Salary: $90,000 – $125,000 per year, negotiable signing bonus (up to 20% of base salary)

Relocation Package: Full relocation support available

Overview: A leading global energy solutions provider is seeking a Controls Engineer to join their team in Pearland, TX. This role involves designing, developing, and supporting control systems for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and hybrid power solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and provision bespoke programming for new energy storage sites.
• Support sales by advising on control solutions for complex tenders.
• Conduct due diligence on new control systems, including market comparison.
• Define and support testing and validation of controls for energy storage systems.
• Develop controls architecture for energy storage and hybrid applications.
• Document applications and control requirements.
• Act as a point of escalation for site issues and assess initial care issues.
• Understand regional standards and create documentation templates.
• Train less experienced personnel and other trainers.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Controls Engineering, or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience with controls development, testing, simulation, and applications in the rental space.
• Experience with FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) and SAT (Site Acceptance Test) for hybrid projects.
• Proficiency in CODESYS programming and familiarity with IEC61131 ST or equivalent.
• At least 3 years of experience designing and developing bespoke programming for power solutions.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Experience managing stakeholder expectations in the industrial sector.
• Knowledge of power and temperature control within the rental industry.
• Strong coaching and leadership abilities.
