You will serve as a COOK in the Midshipman Food Service Division of NAVAL ACADEMY.

  • The job requires physical lifting (regularly up to 30 lbs.), pushing, pulling, and carrying of gear and bulk subsistence of various weights, sizes, and shapes. Materials handling equipment is available for movement of heavy loads (over 50 lbs.)
  • The position requires standing and walking the a majority of time on duty. Certain tasks require standing in one place for extended periods of time.
  • The position is regularly exposed to the hazard of slippery floors, boiling liquids, sharp cutting blades, high voltage, and hot working surfaces.
  • There is frequent exposure to extreme temperatures. Exposure to low temperatures is not prolonged. The work is performed indoors, except on occasion when special affairs require outside work.
  • Hands and arms are frequently exposed to cleaning agents. Outer garment work clothing is provided except for steel-toed shoes
  • The incumbent may be required to work on any day or shift, including night, weekends, holidays, or on an β€œon call” basis, necessary to meet ashore or afloat mission requirements.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision. The ability to perform common tasks including 1) Maintaining proper temperature for all foods during holding, transport, and reheating; 2) Storing prepared food items under refrigeration; and 3) Rotating stock items to prevent spoilage.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Certain incentives (such as Recruitment, Relocation or Student Loan Repayment) may be authorized to eligible selectees.

A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may be authorized.

A 40 hour work week is typical for this position.

This position is being recruited at the full performance level.
