We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Copy Manager on our Professional Satisfaction team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 8 days a month in the office.

As a Copy Manager you will serves as the lead copywriter/copyeditor for the AMA STEPS Forwardยฎ content including educational playbooks, toolkits, success stories, and otherdigital content projects across the Professional Satisfaction & PracticeSustainability (PS2) business unit. Manages multiple content projects throughexecution. Oversees the execution ofspecial projects from conception through launch. Makes content decisionsconsistent with the AMA STEPS Forward brand identity and overarching strategy.Manages project deadlines, meets with clients/vendors, and makes smartdecisions as part of a team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Copy

  • Implement/execute all messaging and copy development as assigned, including concepting, copy development and presentation of concept statements, final messaging/copy, copyediting, proofreading, etc.
  • Develop and deliver solutions that enhance overall positioning and strategic direction of the AMA STEPS Forward program by helping to craft and successfully extend various strategies and initiatives across all content opportunities (print collateral, print and digital advertising, video, web, etc.)
  • Collaborate with the content strategy team to ensure all requested copyedits are made on final layouts
  • Maintain a solid awareness of shifting language, perspectives, business tactics, advocacy or policy developments, etc., across the AMA

Project Management

  • Work collaboratively with the PS2 Content Strategy, Practice Satisfaction, Practice Transformation, and Digital Health teams to understand team and project requirements
  • Assist in planning and participate in content input and brainstorming meetings, as well as provide additional guidance and content team perspective throughout a project's life

Content Strategy Team

  • Promote a continually improving content environment and actively contributes to a culture of excellence and innovation by staying current on hot topics in physician well-being and content strategy best practices.
  • Mentor and helps to train others on content strategy team and/or at business-unit level as necessary; helps to update, maintain, and promote department's internal resources and knowledge base (style guidelines, brand and campaign oversight, guidance on populating the CST intake form, etc.)

May include other responsibilities as assigned

REQUIREMENTS
:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Public Relations Integrated Marketing Communications or related discipline required; master's degree in related field desirable
  2. Minimum five to seven years of writing and editing experience in medical writing, advertising, public relations, integrated marketing communications (that includes at least five years of high-level writing/editing experience), or related field required
  3. Experience in managing the content development process, concepting, physician relationships, enhancing interaction and leading individuals and projects required
  4. Project coordination/management skills and desire to manage multiple programs and projects with competing deadlines sometimes utilizing non-reporting or external staff
  5. Must be fluent in AP style and able to learn and apply AMA STEPS Forward and AMA style and brand standards
  6. Ability to write long form educational content and short promotional copy
  7. Strong logic, reasoning and problem-solving skills with solid research and fact-checking capabilities
  8. Skilled at performing collaboratively in a matrixed, team environment while being a strong individual contributor
  9. Ability to skillfully direct others when necessary
