REMOTE – If you live over 50 miles from Adtalem offices in Chicago IL Addison IL Columbia MD Minneapolis MN and Miramar FL this role is remote. However occasional office visits may be required based on business needs with advance communication for such requests.
Job Description

Faculty members educate Walden University students by effectively and proficiently using online technology and resources so that knowledge information feedback and critique are imparted to and shared with students in timely thoughtful carefully formulated and well written communications. This is accomplished in an environment that is respectful of students the Faculty Member Walden University and the discipline in which the Faculty Member is involved. Faculty Members are expected to adhere to all Walden University Faculty expectations which are clearly set forth to the Faculty Member at the start of his/her employment with the University.

Faculty members are assigned courses which are taught using the Learning Management System (LMS) and are responsible for interacting with students within the LMS. Discussion Boards for classrooms are open 24 hours per day 7 days per week. Faculty members are expected to be in the classroom a minimum of 4 days per week and responses to student questions must be posted within 48 hours. The university suggests regular and predictable availability such as online office hours or regular online chats; office hours may be required based on program or college policy.

Faculty Members may be required to chair and/or participate on thesis/dissertation committees.

Some Faculty Members are also involved in supervising field training and skill development courses.

Faculty Members serve on faculty governance or academic policy committees and in general participate in other ways to strengthen the academic reputation of Walden University.

Complies with all university college and program policies and standards.

Core faculty may be required to travel to university events and residencies throughout the year at a minimum of once per quarter. When traveling to these events the faculty member will be expected to fully participate in the event.

Core faculty members may be required to perform other duties and responsibilities including administrative supervisory and management tasks as determined by the program leadership. Faculty members may be asked to serve on faculty governance or academic policy committees and in general participate in other ways to strengthen the academic reputation of Walden University.

Graduate-level faculty may be invited to attend Residencies held domestically or internationally where they will teach face-to-face intensives and colloquia and facilitate school and university-wide discussions. Core (full-time) faculty may be required to attend and teach at face-to-face and virtual residencies.

Faculty mentors may be assigned to work one-on-one with students to help students meet the research requirements of their degree. Faculty members are responsible for the provision of timely feedback approval assessment and evaluation of each student's work within the classroom.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
-
PhD in Nursing or closely related field with a Master's in Nursing from an accredited institution with demonstrated coursework in one of the specialization areas: education health care administration public health policy leadership/management informatics.

Current RN licensure in one of the 50 states in the US required. Licensure in additional states may also be required depending on evolving state regulations.

Three (3) or more years of teaching experience teaching graduate courses in one of the specialty areas is preferred (Education Leadership Health Policy or Health Care Administration and informatics).

Expertise in areas as research/scholarship theory health care policy project development leadership health care administration etc. are essential to ensure a qualified quality compliment of faculty in the program.

Distinguished record of scholarship including externally funded research and peer reviewed publications in one of the specialization areas (Nursing education Leadership Public Health Policy Health Care Administration Informatics).

Candidates should possess a significant record of intellectual and professional contributions to the field.

Teaching advising and mentoring; commitment to the promotion of applied research and the recruitment and development of a diverse faculty; excellent leadership communication team and human relations skills. Experience with distance learning preferred.

Experience serving on dissertation supervisory committees and/or doctoral level committees is preferred.

The Faculty Member must be able to use Microsoft Office products (MS Word MS Excel and MS PowerPoint) zip software and Adobe Acrobat and must have reliable Internet access as well as alternate access in cases where primary access becomes unavailable.

Walden University provides a company-owned laptop for use by core faculty and they are expected to use this laptop according to the Corporate Computing policy as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
Additional Information
In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country the expected salary range for this position is between $68637.22 and $124230.14. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
