Core Network Engineer

Skylo Technologies is hiring a Core Network Engineer to join our Network Engineering and Planning team onsite in Palo Alto, CA to implement Skylo's vision of building out a carrier-grade Satellite IOT network. This role will be highly cross-functional, working across the network engineering, wireless systems, and network operations teams. Responsibilities:

• Architect, design, and set requirements for Skylo’s 3GPP (EPC and 5GC) satellite production core network deployment and its associated interfaces 
• Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to deploy and configure the satellite core network
• Support local market regulatory requirement integrations such as lawful intercept services
• Collect monitoring and analytics data to perform capacity and performance management and planning
• Design, set requirements, and validate core network integrations with partner MNO/MVNOs and enterprise customers
• Provide technical domain support to Skylo’s operations teams as required
• Provide detailed and quantifiable feedback to product engineering and product management teams to enhance network performance and quality
• Hold vendors accountable to SLAs on network performance and service quality
• Provide subject matter knowledge in the areas of licensed LTE/5G mobile packet core, security, and virtualization solutions.

Requirements:

• Relevant degree in Electrical, Electronics and Communication Engineering or equivalent technical discipline is preferred
• 5+ years of related network systems engineer experience 
• Hands on experience integrating, configuring, testing, and troubleshooting LTE&5G Core Network
• Good understanding of IP networking principles and protocols i.e., ability to configure/understand VLAN’s, Layer 2/3 routing, bridging, and planning a network design
• Experience with core system architecture, interfaces and protocols such as S1-MME, S1-U, S6a, S11, S5/S8, Rx, NAS, S1-AP, RRC, GTPv2c, GTP-U
• Knowledge of Policy and Charging elements within the packet core; PCEF, PCRF, PAS,OFCS, OCS
• Knowledge of GTPv2, Diameter, LDAP protocol & AVPs
• Knowledge of 3GPP Mobility Specifications applicable to Packet Core Infrastructure Nodes; GGSN, SGW, PGW, PCRF
• Working experience in Lab testing and IOT testing is preferred
• Highly collaborative, with excellent communication skills
