This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Core Protocol & Systems Engineering - Senior in India.
In this senior-level role, you will be responsible for defining and shaping the architecture of next-generation high-performance networking and systems platforms. You will work at the core of data-plane and control-plane engineering, designing scalable, low-latency, and highly efficient systems that power complex distributed environments. This position requires deep expertise in systems programming, Linux kernel networking, and protocol stack design, with a strong focus on performance optimization and architectural excellence. You will collaborate with senior engineering leaders and cross-functional teams to influence long-term technical strategy and platform evolution. The role blends hands-on system design with high-level architectural decision-making across mission-critical infrastructure. You will also play a key role in mentoring engineering talent and driving engineering best practices. This is a high-impact opportunity to shape foundational networking systems at scale.
Accountabilities:
- Define end-to-end architecture for high-performance networking systems, including protocol stacks, data-plane components, and distributed system interactions
- Lead design decisions for TCP/IP enhancements, kernel networking behavior, and user-space vs kernel-space optimizations
- Architect scalable system components including threading models, memory management, interrupt handling, and performance-critical execution paths
- Drive system-level performance engineering through profiling, workload analysis, and scalability optimization
- Collaborate with leadership, product, and engineering teams to define long-term roadmap and platform strategy
- Produce high-quality architectural documentation, technical strategy papers, and deep-dive engineering analyses
- Mentor senior engineers and technical leads while promoting architectural standards and best practices
- Guide complex cross-team engineering decisions impacting system design and platform evolution
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in systems, networking, kernel-level, or infrastructure engineering with architecture ownership
- Expert-level proficiency in C/C++ and strong systems programming fundamentals
- Deep understanding of TCP/IP protocol stack, routing, switching, and packet processing architectures
- Strong experience with multithreaded systems, CPU scheduling, memory models, and interrupt-driven architectures
- Proven ability to design and scale high-performance distributed or networking systems
- Solid experience with virtualization, cloud networking, and container-based system architectures
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and system design skills with a detail-oriented mindset
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence both technical and executive stakeholders
- Experience in high-latency or constrained network environments (e.g., WAN, satellite systems, PEPs) is a strong plus
