Core Protocol & Systems Engineering - Senior Architect

This is a senior-level architecture role focused on designing and evolving next-generation data-plane and control-plane systems for high-performance networking environments.
You will define end-to-end system architecture spanning protocol stacks, Linux kernel networking, and distributed system interactions.
The role requires deep expertise in low-level systems design, performance engineering, and scalable network infrastructure.
You will influence critical design decisions across TCP/IP enhancements, kernel/user space boundaries, and packet processing pipelines.
You will collaborate closely with engineering leaders, product teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to shape long-term platform strategy.
This position also involves mentoring senior engineers and technical leads while driving architectural consistency across teams.

• Define and own the architecture of high-performance networking systems, including protocol stacks, data-plane components, and distributed system behaviors.
• Lead system-level design decisions involving TCP/IP optimizations, Linux kernel networking stack behavior, and user-space versus kernel-space trade-offs.
• Architect scalable solutions for threading models, memory management, interrupt handling, and performance-critical execution paths.
• Drive system performance engineering efforts, including profiling, workload analysis, bottleneck identification, and scalability improvements.
• Collaborate with leadership and cross-functional teams to influence technical roadmap direction and platform evolution.
• Mentor senior engineers and technical leads while promoting architectural best practices across engineering teams.
• Produce detailed architecture documentation, technical strategy papers, and in-depth system analysis reports.

Requirements:

• 10+ years of experience in systems engineering, networking, or kernel-level development with proven architectural ownership of large-scale platforms.
• Strong academic background with a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Mastery of C and C++ with deep experience in systems programming and low-level architecture design.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP protocols, routing and switching mechanisms, and high-performance packet processing systems.
• Expertise in multithreaded system design, CPU scheduling, memory models, and interrupt-driven architectures.
• Hands-on experience with distributed systems, cloud networking, and virtualization or container-based environments.
• Strong analytical thinking, architectural vision, and ability to influence senior technical and executive stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly.
• Preferred experience in constrained or managed WAN environments such as satellite or telecom systems.
• Familiarity with high-latency or variable-bandwidth networks and Performance Enhancing Proxies, including TCP acceleration or optimization techniques.
