Job Description

This is an opportunity to get corporate communications experience to include external communications (media relations), employee communication and engagement, as well as experience working on social media and digital communication. The internship will give extensive experience writing news releases, corporate blogs, corporate messaging and media relations. The ideal candidate should be a self-starter with a winning attitude.
Job Responsibilities
The internship will include a rotation through the different communication areas within the department. The intern will get experience and training writing for internal/external audiences. They will get an introduction to media relations (how to craft a story pitch, write a press release, best practices on gathering press list, etc). Story mining from within the company and project management skills. The unique project will be to work on the company's 60th anniversary communications strategy, which includes many fun events during the summer!
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate loves to ask questions, writing and finding creative ways to communicate with different audiences. The candidate should be pursuing a strategic communications, public relations or journalism degree. We are looking for strong writing and proofreading skills, experienced in AP Style.
12 Week Schedule

  • Week 1-3: External Communications
  • Week 4-6: Employee Communications
  • Week 7-10: Social Media and Digital Communications
  • Week 10-12: Video production and 60th Anniversary


Minimum Requirements

  • Eligible candidates must be one of the following:
    • Part-time or full-time students who have completed 24+ credit hours (rising sophomores/juniors/seniors) and are enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited college or university; Part-time or full-time students enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited college or university
    • May 2024 graduate
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, professionalism, and maturity in the workplace
  • Effective communicator in both written and spoken English
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in use of MSOffice Suite
  • 3.0 GPA or above preferred


Summer Intern Program Description:

  • Paid internship; 12 weeks starting on Monday, May 27, 2024 through August 16, 2024
  • Schedule - 40 hours/week, Monday- Friday, 9 - 5 or regular core hours
  • Hybrid environment (minimum 3 days in office location)
