About this position:
Inorganic growth will be a key element of our overall growth strategy. The corporate development team is responsible for executing and driving Celonis's inorganic growth strategy. This includes sourcing, evaluating, negotiating, and executing M&A and strategic investment opportunities. In this role, you will collaborate with senior executives and business unit leaders on our M&A strategy, develop investment themes on new markets, propose investment ideas, and work with product teams to evaluate potential acquisition targets. You will quarterback the investment and M&A process, working closely with functional leaders across finance, legal, sales, tax and HR to build financial models, drive due diligence, develop internal investment memos and presentations, and collaborate with the PMI team to help define a robust integration plan.
Responsibilities:
  • Support the deal process end-to-end, including sourcing, qualification, initial rationale/pitch, financial modeling, due diligence and closing & integration activities
  • Conduct research to provide critical inputs to models and documents related to highly time-sensitive strategic investment decisions
  • Support in overall competitive landscaping; industry analyses; due diligence on acquisition targets; etc.
  • Conduct market research, inc. sourcing of new acquisition targets within our defined target and adjacent markets
  • Maintain our proprietary database of potential acquisition targets, inc. classification of potential targets
  • Communicate progress, results, and updates to key stakeholders, both within the Corporate Development team and among other Celonis' teams; own the creation and delivery of internal communications (e.g., bi-weekly updates from the Corporate Development team to select stakeholders)
  • Help prepare investment materials for presentation to senior management, the board of directors, and other stakeholders
  • Support financial modeling tasks in relation to potential strategic transactions

Required Skills/Experience:
  • 1-3 years of experience in consulting, investment banking, venture capital, product management, market research
  • Undergraduate degree from a top-tier university in Computer Science, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering or similar discipline.
  • Good understanding of and/or high curiosity for enterprise software and the industries in which Celonis competes
  • Strong business writing skills, especially the ability to concisely communicate findings and recommendations to senior decision-makers
  • Experience conducting and synthesizing market research to inform decision-making and strategic planning
  • Experience in financial modeling and constructing business cases for strategic decisions
