Role Summary
The Corporate Ergonomist plays an integral role in managing the Ergonomics Program for over 55 U.S. Manufacturing plants and 16 Engineering Centers. As a key member of the Global Ergonomics team, you will collaborate with 5 other Corporate Ergonomists internationally to lead and develop new global ergonomics tools and innovate new strategies to reduce musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) for over 170,000 employees.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all U.S. plants and ensure compliance to Magna Global Ergonomics requirements through digital and on-site auditing.
  • Mentor plant Ergonomics Coordinators and Ergonomics Committees on strategies that help drive effective ergonomics and risk reduction.
  • Develop and deliver ergonomics training to different levels of the plant which include the Ergonomics Committee, Design Engineers, and Senior Management.
  • Analyzing ergonomics performance trends in the U.S. plants and developing strategies to identify and fulfill regional needs/gaps.
  • Develop new ergonomics tools/guidelines and mechanisms to enhance Magna's Global Ergonomics Program and auditing process.
  • Work in partnership with plant management and personnel to facilitate Ergonomics Program requirements, develop a risk management system and integrate ergonomic design guidelines into the engineering process.
  • Lead corporate ergonomists on new field research, conflicting technical approaches, and emerging new technologies in the ergonomics space.
  • Present at internal Health, Safety and Environmental conferences updating new initiatives and overall performance in the ergonomic program.

Key Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Sciences/Engineering with a focuse on Ergonomics OR a Master's degree in an acceddited Ergonomics program
  • 4 - 7+ years of work-related experience in industrial ergonomics
  • Experience with ergonomics risk assessments & industry tools, providing effective/practical recommendations and developing ergonomics programs in a manufacturing environment.
  • Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE) designation a plus.
  • Ability to meet demanding time frames, which may require extra hours on short notice
  • Ability to handle/ maintain confidential information and data constantly and discretely.
  • Excellent communication & presentation skills

Additional Information
  • Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct a normal amount of work at a computer. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to travel domestic and international up to 40% of the time.
