The role

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a variety of initiatives on our legal and compliance team. The Corporate General Counsel of Technology is a business partner trusted to deliver innovative solutions to the legal and compliance issues that our teams are facing as a fast growing technology company. The ideal candidate will have prior experience with legal issues related to technology platforms and a desire to tackle challenges at the intersection of mobility, real estate, and technology. Partnering cross-functionally, the attorney will advise and support privacy, data security, intellectual property, regulatory, licensing, and employment. Metropolis will look to the Corporate General Counsel to proactively ensure the company is well-positioned for operational excellence and future growth.

Responsibilities

• Advise on an array of legal areas, with a focus on technology, intellectual property, data, privacy, general corporate, and mergers and acquisitions
• Review Metropolis products and technologies to assess legal compliance and draft relevant terms and conditions, disclaimers, and other policies
• Lead the strategic and legal management of all intellectual property matters, including adoption and use of trademarks, copyrights, patents and enforcement practices
• Train and educate Metropolis employees on legal risks and best practices related to intellectual property, data privacy compliance, and information protection laws and regulations
• Develop, implement, and manage processes and systems to enable the legal team to efficiently and effectively operate and scale
• Manage outside counsel and other outside advisors on legal matters
• Maintain knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and of industry legal standards and best practices

Requirements 

• J.D. and licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. state
• 5+ years of legal experience, preferably with in-house corporate experience at a growing tech company
• Experience in the areas of technology, intellectual property, data, privacy, and employment law
• Entrepreneurial mindset - self-starter who thrives on ambiguity and the opportunity to bring structure where needed
• Ability to translate sophisticated legal issues into clear and simple advice and to communicate and collaborate with a broad range of cross-functional colleagues, including the executive team and other senior leaders across the company
• Ability to manage multiple projects at a time and meet deadlines in an exciting, fast-paced environment
• Passion for transportation, mobility, and/or proptech is a plus!
