The Legal team enables Moda Operandi to realize its vision of empowering style through exceptional design.  The team provides responsive, collaborative, high-quality legal services and sound business solutions to our stakeholders across all areas of Moda Operandi, including contract and commercial matters, corporate governance, financial reporting, vendor relationships, employment matters, intellectual property, real estate, privacy matters and insurance The team ensures we are operating in-line with Moda Operandi’s vision, mission, strategies, and objectives. 

About this Role

The Corporate Paralegal (temp-to-perm) will be responsible for providing day-to-day support to Legal department and other stakeholders, including by managing Moda Operandi’s legal files and corporate documents, including implementation and management of related software, drafting contracts from approved templates, and collaborating with the head of the department on compliance efforts. This professional will also handle routine corporate administration and filings.

Primary Responsibilities, include:

  • Provide day-to-day support to the General Counsel, other members of the Legal team, and other Moda stakeholders, as needed.
  • Manage general legal administration including all internal document and contract organization, filing and document management and related systems and software.
  • Administer electronic signature software, including sending of e-signature envelopes for the legal team and stakeholders across the business.
  • Assist with creating and marking up NDAs and other vendor-facing agreements from standard forms.
  • Assist with global corporate governance matters, such as compliance, international subsidiaries state registrations and annual reports, insurance requirements, maintaining corporate records, regulatory filings, investor communications, and drafting corporate resolutions.
  • Assist with managing disputes and insurance coverage and claims, including litigation holds and discovery.
  • Primary point of contact for legal department service providers.
  • Perform legal research as needed.
  • Manage legal team expense process, vendor invoices, and billing relationships.
  • Support the legal team and finance team with transaction diligence.
  • Identify and implement improvements to current operations and workflows.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Qualifications/Ideal Experience:

  • B.A. or B.S. Degree required.
  • 2-4 years experience as a paralegal in a legal department or law firm corporate department.
  • Strong prioritization, efficiency, and organization skills needed to independently handle high volume of requests.
  • Ability to be proactive and to work independently, but also successfully coexist within a close-knit team.
  • Sound judgment in understanding when to engage attorney supervisors when providing support and communicating with third parties.
  • Excellent computer, written and oral communication skills.
  • High level of ethical standards, integrity, authenticity, credibility, and character.

Job Type: Temp-to-perm; Hybrid role; NYC based (Brooklyn office space)

Salary: $26.44 - $33.65 per hour (temp) or $55,000 - $70,000 + Discretionary Bonus & Equity Eligible (perm)
