Corporate Strategy Intern (Summer)

The Elevator Pitch 

Do you want to gain hands-on experience in Corporate Strategy? Are you eager to learn and develop critical skills for your future career? Do you have a passion for increasing business?

In this 10-week Corporate Strategy Intern role, you will be an integral part of our City Violence program, helping to expand Evolv’s presence to fight gun violence in America’s most dangerous cities. Not only will you be gaining critical skills in corporate strategy, but you will also have the opportunity to be exposed to the ins and outs of the company, while getting exposure to all other departments and how they operate.

Success in the Role: What are performance outcomes over the first half and second half of the internship you will work toward completing? 

In the first 5 weeks, you will:

• Understand Evolv, our product and culture, what we do, and why we do it
• Demonstrate proactiveness
• Ask insightful questions and share your point of view

In the last 5 weeks, you will:

• Have delivered data and insights to help shape our decision making on the city violence program
• Be able to look back throughout the internship and feel as if you had contributed something meaningful and impactful to the company
• Walk away from the internship proud of what you accomplished
• Have a better understanding of corporate strategy
• Have a better idea of what you want or don’t want out of your career

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

• Conduct analysis to determine which cities are the highest opportunity for Evolv, based on crime data, political landscape, policing strategy, funding, and existing Evolv relationships, customers, and pipeline.
• Create a stakeholder map by city which includes politicians, key government officials, trade groups, unions, press, and private sector actors who might influence the purchase of Evolv systems
• Identify opportunities for federal and state funding to support purchase of Evolv systems for public safety
• Develop presentations for key influencers in cities to educate them on Evolv
• Identify key events and gatherings by city to evaluate for potential proposals
• Monitor the news about gun violence and public safety programs in cities to keep the team apprised on opportunities as they arise
• Provide support for the team in the creation of proposals for municipal buyers
• Develop business savviness by sitting in on department Q&As and Executive Leadership presentations to gain knowledge from individuals in different departments and levels at Evolv

What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team? 

• You will be joining the Corporate Strategy team and report to the Director of Strategy. The small team is comprised of team members with a range of experience levels from entry, mid and senior.
• The team culture is one based on building trust, collaboration, on-going development through kindness, authenticity, courage, drive and fun!

Where is the role located?

• The location of this role is based in Waltham, MA with some flexibility in being remote some days.
• This is a paid internship with a range of $15-$21 an hour, dependent on your academic school year.
