Cost Accountant

Neogen is looking to hire a Cost Accountant who will be responsible for performing all necessary analysis and reconciliations to maintain an accurate inventory system as well as performing cost accounting and analysis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

COST ACCOUNTING:

• Maintain Solomon Inventory module.
• Investigate and resolve any discrepancies that occur within Inventory module.
• Set up new inventory items in Solomon.
• Maintain divisional Bills of Materials.
• Draft proforma Bill of Materials for new business opportunities.
• Perform analysis of actual labor versus standards
• Perform month end closing COS, PPV, MMV analysis.
• Prepare budgets for raw material costs and labor analysis.
• Assist with General Accountant duties as needed.
• Other as necessary responsibilities to be defined by supervisor or Divisional Controller.

INVENTORY CONTROL:

• Track scrap and obsolete inventories.
• Schedule and assist with cycle counts.
• Assist with management of semi-annual physical inventory.
• Enter physical inventory counts in Solomon.
• Trouble shoots inventory discrepancies; cycle counts and all other inventory functions as request.
• Other as necessary responsibilities to be defined by supervisor or Divisional Controller.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting
• 1-3 years' experience in cost accounting

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze and interpret reports and data. Ability to resolve complaints with suppliers. Ability to effectively present and analyze problem to supervisor and provide recommendation of solutions and meet deadlines.

MATHEMATICAL AND COMPUTER SKILLS: High proficiency in Microsoft Excel a must. Be able to perform basic math functions.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Good organizational skills are necessary.
