Cost Accountant

Overview

Expected pay for this position is $34.22 - $40.26/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Cost Accountant is responsible for the ongoing development, implementation and maintenance of cost accounting systems and is responsible for general maintenance of cost accounting files for OSF Healthcare System Facilities. This role will assist in the development and improvement of the cost accounting process utilizing RCC based costing and detail departmental costing at all facilities. The Cost Accountant is responsible for timely analysis and distribution of cost data and contributes to the integration of cost and productivity studies.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business.
• Experience: 1 year of experience of progressively more responsibility in the healthcare industry.

Other skills/knowledge:

• Understanding of the healthcare industry, trends, issues, risks, etc.
• Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in finance in an integrated healthcare environment.
• Advanced computer skills with strong knowledge of spreadsheet programs.
• Strong analytical skills to gather, manipulate, and interpret large amounts of data and transform into useable information to address operational and system related problems.
• Ability to perform under changing circumstances and deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to learn quickly.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to command respect and confidence with professional peers.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience with database and decision support systems, with particular emphasis on McKesson HPM, eSimon, and Strata Decision Technology.
• Licensure/Certifications: CPA or CMA preferred
