Cost Accounting Manager

Summary

In this role, the Cost Accounting Manager provides financial guidance, expertise, and recommendations to the business for operational decisions. Liaising between executives, managers, IT, and the finance department, you will provide financial expertise and recommendations that facilitate the exchange of information and coordination of processes that drive financial decisions in our domestic and international operations. Work is varied and complex with assignments that are broad in nature, usually requiring originality and ingenuity.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the analysis and monitoring of Retail cost and inventory financial accounts and transactions. Includes cost of sales postings, inventory adjustments, price changes and review and audit of vendor rebate accruals.
• Oversees the cost control systems, manages, carry outs and interprets inventory audits as well as provides recommendations for improvements to business operations.
• Prepares appropriate explanations relating to report items of particular interest or significance, uses some judgment in determining what would be of interest or importance.
• Overseas and evaluates the activities of the cost accounting staff and provides for their professional development and performance feedback.
• Assist in aligning and directing cost and inventory accounting policies and practices.
• Works closely with business operations, FP&A, auditors, public accountants and other financial professionals.
• Identify area of accounting risk and modify or implement controls as necessary to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Ability to interact and communicate with a variety of people on many different levels in person and remotely and manage interpersonal relationships and conflict.

Typical Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university
• CPA/CMA license or CPA/CMA license in progress preferred

Relevant Experience

• Minimum 8 years of accounting experience
• Prior supervisory experience
• Extensive knowledge of accounting principles and practices
• Combination of education, training and/or experience will be considered for this position
• Experience with JDE, Agvance, Power BI, Axiom or SAP preferred
