Cost Analyst

Job Description Summary
As Cost Analyst, you will be responsible for the providing general accounting and reporting support for BD operations. This position will preferably report in to the San Antonio, TX, office however remote candidates will be considered.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Analyzes and explains variances between forecasts, budget, and actual results.
• Communicates clearly with the finance and operations team on monthly performance.
• Prepares month-end reporting and analysis.
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams to complete daily, weekly, monthly tasks.
• Demonstrates understanding of source documentation, research variances, and proposes corrections.
• Leverages customer knowledge to develop alternative solutions and shares key learnings with others.
• Participate in various teams' related activities to ensure proper SOX controls and compliance with BD policies.
• Makes decisions, often difficult and/or unpopular, by carefully weighing pros and cons and acting in accordance with GAAP.
• Prepares inventory reporting metrics and other KPI's.
• Coordinates annual manufacturing standard costs along item analysis.

About you: To be successful in this role, you require:

• Minimum bachelor's degree required; accounting or finance preferred, or economics, mathematics, or statistics.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant financial analysis and general accounting is required, preferably in a manufacturing industry or public accounting.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, matrixed, challenging environment with strong attention to detail.
• General knowledge of finance and accounting concepts.
• Cost accounting experience preferred.
• Highly proficient in working with Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, etc.), and reasonably proficient with other common applications such as MS Access, MSWord, and MS PowerPoint. SAP is preferred.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, teamwork and analytical skills.
• Ability to analyze, organize and explain large volumes of data.
• Attention to detail and accuracy under time constraints.
• Self-motivated with a desire to improve upon existing processes and procedures.
• Solid time management and prioritization skills.
• Ability to travel up to 25% (if needed.)
