Project Controls - Cost Analyst/Engineer
Location: GPC Corporate Headquarters - Atlanta, GA
Summary of Position Duties
The Project Controls Cost Analyst/Engineer will be responsible for maintaining and developing project and financial systems and data to ensure that they are efficient and effective, and they comply with a Sarbanes-Oxley driven controls environment. This position will also assist in detailed monitoring, analysis, and documentation of project budgets and actuals. Provides analysis between project schedule and project expenditures. Updates, maintains, and documents the project budget and cost information in Oracle Projects. Provides timely support to project financial reporting and trending functions and the invoice/billing process as required.
Job Requirements
Job Experience and Education:
- Bachelor's degree preferred (Business, Finance or Engineering)
- 3 years' experience as a Project Controls Analyst a Plus
- Experience working with PowerPlan, Oracle Projects, and C.A.M.P. desired.
- Experience working in Electrical Utility or Energy field is preferred
- Experience working with Primavera is desired
- Experience working with accounting, work order management, and estimating software is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools (i.e. Word, Excel, Access)
- Strong working knowledge of project financial analysis including, project budget analysis, work orders maintenance, and compliance analysis, change orders, etc.
- Cost and budget analysis skills, including cost-to-date and cost-to-complete analysis and forecasting.
- Identify and mitigate potential budget and scope change impacts.
- Ability to handle multiple complex projects and tasks and work closely day to day with the multiple project managers and project controls analysts.
- Ability and willingness to develop strong internal and external client working relationships.
- Adaptable and flexible in a changing and evolving environment.
- Proficiency in creating and manipulating pivot tables.
- Self-motivated Team player who takes ownership and responsibility
- Ability to challenge assumptions and conclusions in a productive way
- Enjoys working with a large and diverse group of people to accomplish projects as a team
- Review Project Packages for quality audit trail and budget change requests
- Assist Project Controls Supervisor with developing funding solutions for budget change requests.
- Support Project Managers with capital project projections
- Facilitate lessons learned as it impacts project schedule and budget
- Prepares/reviews cost reports with explanation of variances and root causes for ITS requests
- Develop and maintain process of identifying discrepancies in Oracle Projects
- Analyst project costs and schedules for current and/or future analysis of budget authorizations. Flags early warnings for corrective action.
- Assists Project Controls Supervisor in the preparation of cost and schedule reports
- Assists with Project specific budget data entry and reporting with multiple databases
