Cost Estimating Analyst

Job Description Summary

Responsible for understanding the elements that compose the cost of a product and build a Cost Model. Implement, maintain and update associated cost analysis with real time quotes or valid technical data (as applicable).

Job Description

• Responsible for the development and long-term ownership of cost estimating models for various products/processes - castings, stampings, forgings, machining etc.; on a global basis.
• Facilitate the efficient use of materials and process in domestic and international market studies for various commodities to arrive at the best value proposition(s) in global sourcing.
• Actively support the Purchasing function to ensure market competitive sourcing.
• Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities along with process efficiency improvements.
• Prioritize and record domestic and international market studies for various commodities to identify market trends for material costs.
• All other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Education

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or with relevant experience in an automotive manufacturing industry.
• Strong technical expertise in casting, stamping, machining, and related categories required.
• Experience in using a Costing Software Solution preferred.
• Experience in MS Office Suite required and experience with integrated ERP systems is recommended (Oracle, PLM, etc.).
• Self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently as required.
• Willingness to travel as required to plant & supplier sites to assess the products and process systems, approximately 15%.
