Job Title: UX Principal Architect
What You'll Do
Cisco's Customer Experience Design Group is looking for a UX Principal Architect to work with us to reimagine the customer journey and prototype experience across the entire lifecycle of our portfolio, from sales, to support, to product renewal. As a system-level thinker, you will translate business needs into customer-driven solutions based on a modern design toolkit and paradigms. You are also able to provide overall UX oversight as it relates to business needs and is comfortable creating functional javascript prototypes and mentoring junior front-end UI developers.
Who You'll Work With
You will be part of an innovative experience design team responsible for overhauling the way customers and partners interact with Cisco. As the UX Architect, you'll collaborate with senior design, research, product management, and engineering leadership on the strategic direction for our products. Our team develops forward-looking applications, solutions, and services across the cloud, desktop, and mobile platforms. This is a unique opportunity to drive an innovative technical roadmap for next-generation applications and cloud services in big data analytics, machine learning, and advanced visualization.
Who You Are
You have a comprehensive understanding of the current state of enterprise or SaaS applications and design best practices, with a critical awareness of the practical implications of modern design processes. You see and can communicate the big picture, are results-driven, proactive, collaborative, and comfortable working with technical teams. And you are skilled in using data to make decisions and able to juggle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. You have a keen eye and obsess over details. You have in-depth knowledge of modern development practices and frameworks, with a proven track record of leading, building, and delivering successful software projects across a range of modern technologies. You have experience delivering prototypes and MVPs on an accelerated timeline, as well as a hands-on ability to manage software projects and mentor junior engineers.
At a minimum, we expect you to have 15+ years of experience in shipping products, with a demonstrated increase in technical leadership over time, 10+ years working with JavaScript, Node.js, Angular, and ReactNative, and 10+ years in an engineering leadership role.
Additional requirements:• 15+ years' experience leading product teams, experience designing enterprise or SaaS applications with significant emphasis on systems-level thinking• Bachelor's or master's in UX, Computer Science, HCI, graphic design, or a related field• A portfolio that demonstrates your design and technical talent• Comfort with ambiguity and demonstrated ability to synthesize a problem• The ability to easily understand and explain the ramifications of design decisions on an entire system• Wiring front-end prototypes to back-end APIs• Mobile apps experience for iOS and Android
