Who You Are // What You Will Do
The Creative Director will have the opportunity to build a new in-house creative function, responsible for
conceptualization and implementation of design solutions and content that define our brand visual identity and take our marketing strategies from concept to completion on both projects big and small. This person will elevate brand expression, tone of voice, and content production in storytelling that is impactful and memorable to our target consumer and strengthens the relationships within our current community. Our ideal candidate is ready to knock out everything from quick-turn design needs to large 360 campaigns – someone that is flexible, smart, and has an imagination that expands outside the standard box to create a truly unique and ownable brand. The Creative Director will serve as our brand-keeper, and provide inspiration and coaching to internal creatives and channel owners.

This person will be reporting to Stacey Hartnett, VP of Marketing and work closely with Pete Maldonado, founder and CEO.

Responsibilities
Design and creative lead

  • Make an immediate impact – lead the creation of a 360 / omnichannel visual identity and brand style guide (with agency support)
  • Help expand our identity and tone of voice to new and emerging channels and mediums
  • Manage creative projects from intake to delivery, ensuring deliverables are met
  • Produce high-quality visual designs, concept ideation, web and email wireframes and digital marketing assets
  • Responsible for creating graphics, including GIFs and stop motions, for use in digital marketing channels
  • Assist marketing team with event, sales, social media and PR collateral and graphics, both print and digital
  • Oversee packaging development and execution
  • Manage and maintain company assets, which include website, brand style guide and images

Agency liaison

  • Serve as a liaison between agency partners and creative/marketing team by leading brief kickoffs, project management, and creative & brand strategy for high production campaigns
  • Collaborate with marketing team and agencies to develop creative ideas and to then translate those solutions through a variety of channels

Team leader

  • Responsible for maintaining consistent creative quality while applying brand guidelines
  • Provide thought leadership on brand initiatives and strategy
  • Cultivate a design culture and inspire the team by sharing ideas and leading design reviews
  • Manage one direct report, Graphic Designer, and freelance designers and photographers to assist in creative needs
  • Plan for team expansion with roles like content creators, editors, etc. as Chomps scales
  • Accepts responsibility for the organizational goals by taking ownership of new and different duties and identifying new opportunities within the Marketing Department

Who You Are

  • BA or higher in Graphic Design or related field
  • 7-10 years of experience in an in-house creative department or design firm
  • 3+ years of experience in CPG, food or beverage required
  • Experience in defining, building, and differentiating brands
  • Expert knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, Illustrator and Lightroom, HTML preferred
  • Extensive knowledge and experience leading creation of GIFs, videos, photography, and stop motions
  • 360 thinker: You understand the power of combining media + messaging and have experience developing content for the physical shelf, paid and owned digital channels, performance media, including video, content, social media, OOH, packaging, email, and events
  • Strong creative, organizational, problem solving and time-management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to receive and interpret feedback from those that don’t always speak the creative language
  • Comfortable leading multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced, ever changing environment
  • A keen eye for detail and strong sense of typography, color and composition
  • Desire to build a passionate team with no cap on creativity
  • Ability to be entrepreneurial and methodical
  • Results-oriented and process driven, with high expectations of self and team
  • Experience building a team, resource and budget planning. Know how to lead internal and external teams in a positive, productive, and efficient manner.
