What You’ll Do:

 The Creative Director - Retail will be responsible for driving the overall creative vision and strategy of our retail brand. This role will lead the development and execution of innovative and compelling campaigns that resonate with our target audience and drive engagement, growth, and sales.  The ideal candidate will be a creative, people-first leader who will bring established best practices, design insights, tools, and an inherent understanding of the cannabis industry and retail design from conception to execution.  They will obsess with consumer insights, understand shopping behaviors and journeys in store, and look for opportunities to evolve and improve the way we tell our stories to connect with consumers, build brand loyalty and drive results.

  • Develop and implement innovative, multi-channel creative strategies that strengthen our brand identity and ensure a cohesive brand message across all platforms.
  • Oversee the lifecycle development of creative materials for marketing collateral, digital and social media assets, in-store displays, and other promotional materials ensuring a consistent and cohesive brand identity.
  • Lead and inspire a diverse team of creative professionals, including designers, copywriters, and content creators, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including but not limited to visual merchandizing, brand, and commercial marketing managers to understand customer insights and translate them into engaging and effective creative solutions.
  • Evaluate and ensure the high quality and performance of all creative projects.
    Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to optimize creative efforts, drive continuous improvement, and achieve desired results.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with external partners, including creative agencies, photographers, and other vendors, ensuring quality deliverables and adherence to budgets and timelines.
  • Conduct regular reviews of the competitive landscape and stay updated on the latest industry trends to ensure our creative strategy remains fresh and relevant.
  • Maintain knowledge of cannabis laws and regulations to ensure all creative material is compliant.
  • Travel Requirements: 0% - 10%
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 Who You Are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in design, Marketing, Advertising, or related field.
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a creative role with a strong portfolio showcasing innovative design and conceptual thinking.
  • At least 3-5 years in a leadership role, preferably within the cannabis, lifestyle, or related consumer goods industry.
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, and able to work independently or among teams with keen judgement, integrity, and resourcefulness.
  • Ability to flex between high-level strategic thinking and tactical project management.
  • Passion for all things retail. You bring an excitement that rallies others to join your cause.
  • Familiarity with retail industry trends and best practices.
  • Experience in managing a team of creative professionals.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and other relevant design software.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
  • Strong understanding of design principles, visual branding, and the creative process.
  • Knowledge of the cannabis industry, its regulations, and its unique marketing restrictions is a big plus.
