Job Description

Workrise is hiring a Credit Analyst that will be responsible for analyzing credit data and financial statements of customers to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit. In addition to evaluating the creditworthiness of new credit applicants, this position will monitor the ongoing financial performance of existing credit customers. This role will also contribute to the management of the firm’s overall risk profile by tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) and company objectives. The Credit Analyst may also assist with ad hoc reporting/projects, gaining broad exposure to other finance groups and cross-functional departments. 

Our ideal candidate for this role will be someone with strong communication skills who operates with a high degree of organization and proactiveness, has experience with financial analysis, and has a desire to grow their areas of expertise. You will learn how to rigorously analyze financial statements, perform due diligence, and evaluate the creditworthiness of small, middle-market, and big businesses as well as gain experience with data analysis and visualization.

This is a remote opportunity with working daytime working hours between 9 and 6 central time. Candidates in the greater Austin, Texas area who are interested in working a hybrid schedule are also encouraged to apply. 


What You'll Do: 

Underwrite Credit Requests for New Clients:

  • Determine creditworthiness of prospective clients by conducting in-depth evaluation of financial statements, bank and trade references, 3rd party data (Dun & Bradstreet, LexisNexis, etc.), and publicly available information
  • Assign risk grade and credit limit for accounts within approval authority; recommend risk grade and credit limit for larger accounts that do not fall within approval authority
  • Prepare appropriate documentation to evidence underwriting decisions

Conduct Credit Reviews of Existing Clients:

  • Determine creditworthiness of existing clients by analyzing internal sales and payment trends, 3rd party data, and publicly available information
  • Reassess risk grade and credit limit; recommend modifications, if necessary
  • Prepare appropriate documentation to evidence credit review decisions

Portfolio-wide Credit Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Identify trends in our credit portfolio; explore and identify root causes; recommend actions to improve portfolio
  • Assist in preparing the monthly stop-work report, identifying customers that have exceeded the allowable past-due threshold
  • Prepare AR Aging reports for various business units as needed

Ad Hoc Reporting/Projects:

  • Assist with testing hypotheses and executing on initiatives that enhance our underwriting operations and strategy
  • Assist with cross-functional ad hoc projects and reporting

Minimum Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or other relevant field
  • 0-3 years’ experience in financial analysis, credit risk assessment, financial auditing, or similar
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Strong financial analysis skills (i.e., ability to interpret and analyze audited and unaudited financial statements)

Preferred Experience and/or Education:

  • Experience running SQL queries and analyzing large data sets; Experience with Snowflake virtual data warehouse is a plus
  • Experience using NetSuite or similar Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
  • Experience using Salesforce or similar Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system
