What we’re looking for
The Bank’s Credit Risk Management group led by the Chief Credit Officer is seeking a seasoned commercial loan expert with experience managing existing portfolio of commercial loans across CRE, C&I and SBA products. The Director of Portfolio Management will serve as a second line of defense for on-going monitoring of the existing commercial loans. This role will analyze borrower financial documents, property appraisals and reports, environmental reports, credit and public record reports, to confirm rating actions proposed by 1st line of defense.  This candidate will collaborate with the loan origination and loan servicing team to actively monitor the performance of the existing commercial portfolio and covenant compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct independent analysis of financial and collateral information to confirm rating actions form annual review
- Collaborate with loan origination and loan servicing teams to ensure accurate collection of loan data for portfolio reporting
- Manage and support the semi-annual loan reviews with third party vendor
- Monitor closing conditions for commercial loans, including the release of reserves, construction draws, financial and non-financial covenants
- Support external and internal audits and regulatory examinations
- Ensure 1st line of defense correctly apply the rating scorecards, loan modification procedures and loan impairment analysis
- Other Ad-hoc credit risk management projects
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance and/or equivalent experience preferably with formal credit training
- Minimum of 7 years of underwriting experience in CRE lending, with additional experience or desire to learn C&I, Healthcare and SBA lending
- Strong knowledge of commercial banking credit policies and procedures, credit/financial statement analysis, loan structuring and cash flow analysis.
- Advanced knowledge of accounting principles, tax return analysis and analytical interpretation of balance sheet and income statements.
- Knowledge of loan grading systems, relevant factors in loan grading and best practices in periodic loan reviews.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to build partnerships across departments
- Fluency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint
- SQL and database expertise with the ability to develop custom reports is a plus
