Your Responsibilities
As a Crop Phenotyping Scientist for the John Deere Science Agronomy team, you will lead the integration of Phenotyping into our Science & Business Agronomy practices. In addition, you will:
  • Collaborate with the Production System team members to identify & develop Phenotyping use cases that will help us discover and drive Agronomic value.
  • Identify and establish relationships & collaborative projects with cutting edge Phenotyping companies that drive Agronomic value and builds expertise for Deere.
  • Insure that Deere stays on the forefront of Phenotyping techniques, sensor evaluation and industry innovation.

What Skills You Need
  • 3 or more years of experience in using phenotyping, remote sensing and image processing in Production Agriculture
  • 3 or more years of experience in developing the requirements of phenotyping for the development of tools to automate Agronomic evaluations
  • 3 or more years of experience designing and evaluating collection methods in Production Agriculture
  • 3 or more years of experience evaluation/using various phenotypic sensors to determine plant characteristics
  • 3 or more years of experience in Agricultural evaluations through plots, side by sides, experimental design and the statistical analysis of outcomes
  • 3 or more years of experience working in a team setting solving Agronomic problems to improve outcomes by either lowering costs, increasing yields, or a combination of both
  • 3 or more years of establishing collaborative relationships with phenotyping companies for solving Agronomic problems
  • Ability to travel up to 50%

  • Extensive experience in an Agricultural business utilizing Crop Phenotyping to solve Agronomic problems
  • Proven track record of innovation in Crop Phenotyping product development
  • Agricultural background with familiarity of major food & feed grain cropping systems

Education
Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
  • Graduate degree in the area of Agronomy, Image Processing, Phenotyping, Remote Sensing or related field
