Cryptologic Engineer - TS/SCI
Performs a variety of engineering work in the development of an operable system capable of meeting requirements within imposed constraints including mass, cost and schedule. Designs and/or researches subsystem interfaces to ensure that subsystems are integrated and work together to form a viable complete system. Performs functional analysis of a system to ensure it meets performance criteria and mission constraints and to feed the analysis results back into the subsystem development teams. Executes specific engineering assignments under the direction and guidance of higher level engineers. Carries out predetermined concepts and procedures for equipment or interface design, testing, construction and installation, engineering research and study programs. Works autonomously, directing and coordinating the work of engineers and other technical personnel engaged in the compilation of engineering data, construction and testing of models, designing subsystem components, writing reports and test procedures. Performs other functions necessary to complete engineering assignments. Assists other high level engineers or higher level engineering program elements engaged in an engineering or research project. Assumes responsibility for a major segment of related work. Represents the company at subcontractor's plants, customer's engineering department, field and test installations or other field locations. May serve as company representative advising customer and contractor personnel on technical requirements for products or services, support equipment and electronic equipment installation. Plans, directs and coordinates engineering functions involved in the design and development, installation, testing and integration of systems and subsystems. Directs or conducts research studies necessary for the improvement or reconfiguration of systems or subsystems. Serves as the customer interface and organizational consultant on significant issues requiring technical guidance, redirection or resolution. May act as leader for a small single function team; represents the organization related to a specific project. Performs all other duties as assigned. BS degree in engineering or applied science with at least 5 years of related experience.
Support the National Reconnaissance Office Communications Directorate by evaluating and certifying the implementation, integration, and embedment of cryptography and cryptographic-related cyber security solutions into customer-owned or controlled Space systems, through robust cryptographic security engineering and information systems security engineering disciplines.
Key Duties include:
• Investigating and applying evolutionary and revolutionary technologies for the advancement of network architecture, development of security and management enablers, and establishment of an associated test environment.
• Coordinating NRO cryptographic certification activities with NSA's designated Space responsible office, ensuring solutions that obtain timely NSA certification.
• Drafting Systems Key Management Plans (SKMP) and Key Generation Management Plans and Procedures (KGMPP).
• Maximizing use of Commercial Off-The Shelf crypto-enabled products.
• Supporting senior leadership in technical discussions and evaluations.
• Providing liaison support and promoting communication between the customer and external program offices and agencies in the form of meetings and conferences.
• Developing and supporting briefing opportunities of interest for technology sponsors/mission partners.
• Resolving programmatic and technical equipment issues involving customer programs, the IC community, and the military services.
• Providing cryptographic risk assessment support for NRO Space satellite programs to the NRO designated approving official and/or Chief lnformation Security Officer.
• Providing cyber security advice and assistance for Space and Terrestrial acquisition, and for operational components' plans for the design, development, manufacture, acquisition, lease, launch, life-cycle support or operation of any NRO or DoD Space system.
Qualifications:
• Active TS/SCI security clearance
• Three 5+ years experience with Cryptologic engineering and certification
• DOD / IC space and ground experience
• Bachelors of Science in a STEM field is highly desired
