Curriculum Specialist

We're seeking a Curriculum Specialist who is deeply knowledgeable of K-12 state and national standards, including CCSS and NGSS/C3 to join our learning design team. This position will be part of the BrainPOP Product team, supporting all standards and curriculum alignment related services as well as projects associated with grade leveling learning pathways, and custom editions of BrainPOP essentials products, reporting to the Director of Educator Content. Our headquarters are based in New York City.
In this role, you will primarily work on projects associated with deepening standards alignment throughout the products, including but not limited to curriculum alignments, cross-walking standards, leveling of assessment items to grade-specific standards, writing lesson plans and other teacher support resources, supporting development of learning pathways, developing guidelines for both internal use and outside contractors. This position also includes anticipated content design overflow work.
Responsibilities:
- Align educational resources to diverse curriculums and standards, both local and state-wide.
- Conduct thorough reviews and quality assurance checks for accurate alignment of content to relevant standards within the product.
- Assist in the revision and consolidation of content standard documents integrated into the product.
- Provide writing and editing support for various tasks, including creating and modifying learning materials, assessment items, and interactive components to accommodate different levels of learners.
- Identify content standards in support of coherently making BrainPOP content searchable and servable in recommendations (this includes re-aligning previously tagged social studies to topic to C3)
- Consult on content and activity identification for in-product standards or curriculum-driven learning pathways
- Support grade-leveling assessment projects (e.g., developing guidelines for outside contractors, reviewing and editing contractor work, etc).
- Write teacher resources, such as lesson plans.
In this role, you will:
- Encourage effective use of BrainPOP by leveraging its resources in ways that seamlessly and explicitly address the curriculum and/or standards.
- Support BrainPOP’s curriculum alignment services.

- An excellent communicator, including verbal, written, and interpersonal.

- Fluent in professional learning best practices, both online and in person.
- Able to meet critical deadlines on a tight schedule
On Your Resume
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education or related fields
- Teaching experience (K–8) a plus
- 2–5 years of experience in school publishing or experience editing curriculum materials with Common Core and state-specific standards
The starting salary for this role is between $60,000 - $75,000, depending on skills and experience. We take a geo-neutral approach to compensation within the US, meaning that we pay based on job function and level, not location. We have competitive pay bands for all other countries based on market standards. Individual compensation decisions are based on several factors, including experience level, skill set, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company. Based on these factors, we expect most of the candidates offered roles at our company to fall healthily throughout the range. We recognize that the person we hire may be less experienced (or more senior) than this job description, as posted. If so, the updated salary range will be communicated to you as a candidate.

BrainPOP is a hybrid work environment, allowing employees to self-select (depending on role requirements) where they work–whether fully remote in approved states or in-office in our New York headquarters.
