Employee benefits can be tricky. Especially for employers that do not have the time to stay up to date in an ever-changing industry. New plans, new rates, and new regulations are just some of the obstacles the small employers face in the benefits landscape. Gusto’s Health Benefit Advising team is passionate about using innovative technology and service to eliminate these pain points, and elevate the health benefits experience of small business owners and their employees.

As a member of the Benefits Designing team, you’ll be helping get our benefits customers ready for their renewal and creating customized recommendations for customers based on their specific needs. You’ll also use your attention to detail and your operational mindset to ensure high quality, customized recommendations to build the health insurance engine that drives customer love and makes Gusto benefits great.

Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:

  • Create personalized benefits recommendations for customers based on their preferences and eligibility at their renewal period
  • Work directly with health insurance carriers to prepare on time benefits offerings that meet their and their employees’ needs
  • Provide expertise and guidance through our product to customers at key moments in their relationship with Gusto
  • Analyze, refine, and iterate on processes to drive the customer experience and improve our internal efficiency
  • Be a knowledge partner - stay up to date on industry trends, benchmarks, and regulations
  • Educate others on updates related to internal process, external policy, and best practices

Here’s what we're looking for:

  • 1-3 years experience in high-volume operational roles (fulfillment specialist, small group account manager, operations specialist, benefits advisor, etc.), preferably in the tech and/or health insurance industries
  • Approach problems with a passion for improving the customer experience and reducing operational inefficiencies
  • Exceptional written and verbal client communication: able to explain complex concepts in an easy-to-understand manner
  • Analytic and strategic thinker with the ability to translate data into insights and actions
  • Growth mindset - thrives in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment
  • Obsessively organized and detail-oriented
  • Problem solver: enjoys digging to get to root cause

Bonus Points:

  • Experience selling or renewing small group health insurance
  • Licensed to sell health insurance in at least one state
  • Experience with Salesforce & Excel or G-Suite

Notice: This is a licensed role and will require any non-licensed applicants to complete the necessary steps to pursue and obtain an active Health Insurance Broker license within the first 60 days for continued employment.

Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $25.97/hr - $27.41/hr in Denver & most remote locations. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate location, experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.

Our customers come from all walks of life and so do we. We hire great people from a wide variety of backgrounds, not just because it's the right thing to do, but because it makes our company stronger. If you share our values and our enthusiasm for small businesses, you will find a home at Gusto.
