Customer Service Specialist

The Customer Service Specialist serves as the first point of contact for handling a high volume of inbound and outbound telephone calls to resolve patient/guarantor billing concerns and inquiries in both hospital and professional billing. Process patient payments, set up payment arrangements and provides customer/patient education when necessary. Position requires a high level of customer service skills to establish and enhance positive relationships with patients, co-workers and others. The Cook Children's Cash Management, Customer Service and Document Control departments function as a part of a Single Billing Office (SBO) that supports all of Cook Children's Health Care System.

Hours: M-F 8am-5pm (Remote position but must train in Fort Worth office 4-6 weeks & be able to work in office on occasion)

Required Education/Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3 years of experience working in customer service and/or healthcare related field.
• Understanding of medical terminology, hospital-based medical billing practices and billing reimbursement.
• Strong customer service background and knowledge of insurance policies required.
• Strong keyboarding skills and advanced knowledge in use of MS Office applications including Word & Excel.
• Internet proficiency and knowledge of email management tools are essential.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

• Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) preferred.
• Knowledge of Epic Systems and/or OnBase.
• Working knowledge of professional and hospital billing and follow-up preferred.
