The General Motors Global Tax and Customs department is a team of approximately 200 people focused primarily on GM's strategic and most complex tax and trade matters. We manage relationships with numerous external partners who perform many of our routine tax functions. Overview of Your Role:
The Customs Supervisor is responsible to ensure GM's import and export compliance at operations, fast and efficient customs clearance, maximizing cost efficiency with special customs regimes, FTA's, DTA's, etc. This person will have responsibility to be a focal point to import and export activities in company, acting cross-functionally with departments of company to ensure the best strategy to import and export flows.
Designed for persons that takes initiative to improve and innovation, can manage projects through to completion, and have strong written and oral communication skills.
Your Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain relationships with internal clients, customs authorities, and other foreign trade stakeholders: Build a strong network to ensure alignment and collaboration in all foreign trade processes.
  • Monitor and coordinate activities related to import and export flows: Ensure all import and export operations meet deadlines and comply with legal and regulatory standards, coordinating the Customs Broker activities and deliveries.
  • Develop and implement processes and procedures to optimize customs clearance efficiency: Strive for effective customs operations aligned with the company's strategic goals.
  • Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to operations: Regularly assess KPIs in foreign trade operations, identifying improvement opportunities and proposing solutions to enhance efficiency.
  • Possess knowledge in import and export operational systems: Familiarity with routines and special regimes, including Recof, Drawback, EX TarifΓ‘rio, Used Materials, DUIMP.
  • Stay updated and ensure compliance with customs regulations: Monitor updates, analyze impacts, and participate in forums, collaborating in advocacy for new processes and regulatory changes in collaboration with entities and associations.

Additional Description
Required

  • Complete Degree in Foreign Trade, Logistics, Administration, Law and related
  • Solid experience in a relevant large public accounting firm or private industry experience
  • Fluency in English language
  • The ability to prioritize assignments and manage workload within statutory and internal deadlines
  • Well-developed computer and Customs skills. i.e., Experience with finance enterprise systems and tax provision / compliance systems (e.g., SAP, OneSource)
  • Demonstratable strong performance and high productivity
  • Self-motivated, with strong interpersonal, team and partnering skills


Preferred

  • Master's degree in Foreign Trade or Administration; other advanced degree or training
  • Demonstrated effective, analytical and problem-solving skills
