Complete Description

As a Cyber Systems Engineer (ISSO), you will play a critical role in ensuring the security and compliance of systems and networks for both internal and external customers. You will be responsible for performing assessments, identifying deviations from acceptable configurations and policies, implementing cybersecurity controls, and supporting the authorization process.

  • Additionally, you will coordinate with various teams to address deficiencies and ensure compliance with relevant government policies and standards.
  • Perform assessments of systems and networks within the networking environment to identify deviations from acceptable configurations, enclave policy, or local policy. This includes both passive evaluations using compliance audits and active evaluations through vulnerability assessments.
  • Assess non-technical RMF artifacts to identify deviations from RMF control requirements.
  • Establish and maintain program control processes to mitigate risks and support the assessment and authorization of systems. This involves various tasks such as process support, analysis, coordination, certification testing, compliance documentation, investigations, and audits.
  • Assist in the implementation of government policies (NISPOM, NIST, DoD), making recommendations on process tailoring and participating in process activities.
  • Validate established cybersecurity controls and requirements and recommend appropriate safeguards.
  • Support program test milestones by preparing for tests, participating in the testing process, analyzing results, and creating required artifacts for authorization.
  • Prepare artifacts such as Test Results, Authorization Boundary Diagrams, Network Topologies, Flow-diagrams, Hardware and Software listings, Ports, Protocols, and Services Management documentation to support Assessment and Authorization activities. Also, maintain the Plan of Actions and Milestones (POA&M).
  • Conduct periodic reviews of program support and operational system audits, monitoring corrective actions until all actions are closed.
  • Coordinate across the program to address identified deficiencies during RMF assessment activities.

Minimum Requirements

  • IAT Level II DoD 8570 certification (Sec+ CE or similar).
  • Security engineering skills with a working knowledge of cybersecurity technology and DoD/Federal cybersecurity policy (DoDI 8500.01, NIST SP 800-53, etc.).
  • Thorough understanding and utilization of Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS).
  • Familiarity with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) Cybersecurity Lifecycle.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solutions such as LogRhythm.
  • Experience with Host Based Security System (HBSS).
  • Experience with the Xylok RMF Compliance Auditing application.
