CYBER TEST LEAD
The Information Systems and Cyber Division (ISCD) at The Aerospace Corporation is a world-class engineering firm and scientific leader in electronics and cybersecurity for space systems. The Cybersecurity & Advanced Platform Subdivision resides within ISCD and focuses on critical cyber research, development, and rapid prototyping in the areas of Defensive Cyber Operations (DCO), Infrastructure and platforms, and Spacecraft Security. We support a variety of customers including the Space Force's Space Systems Command (SSC), the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), and other civil customers (e.g. NASA) in order to resolve unique challenges in implementation and research. As an experienced cyber test engineer in CAPS, you'll be leading teams, developing prototypes, and providing support to our customer's mission.
This position will be a hybrid work model; some onsite work in El Segundo, CA is required. Travel is required up to 25% of the time.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead teams and projects in the areas of cyber testing to include DT, OT, Cyber Table Tops, Vulnerability Assessments and Penetration Testing.
- Work with missions partners to define testing scope, review artifacts, performing testing, and provide test findings and analysis.
- Create and lead an Aerospace cyber test team through all phases of cyber testing on multiple different platforms and architecture types.
- Collaborate with other Aerospace departments and external organizations to develop new technical demonstrations and capabilities.
- Mentor junior staff and interns in the department throughout the year. Assist with intern projects during the summer intern season.
- Identify and evaluate new tools, technologies and techniques that may be applied to address issues or inefficiencies related to cyber testing.
- Define, develop, and lead new projects as mission opportunities arise.
- Develop and provide cybersecurity guidance to programs in multiple areas of cybersecurity and testing requirements.
Minimum Requirements: (Engineering Specialist)
- Bachelor's or advanced degree from an accredited university in a technical subject area.
- 8 or more years of relevant experience in a technical area or similar fields to cybersecurity testing, software application testing, or mission system architecture development.
- Eligible to acquire and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a clearance.
- Demonstrated strong understanding of DoD test process to include DT, OT, and cyber testing.
- Knowledge of the DoD cyber testing process and cyber organization persons of contact.
- Demonstrated strong communication and leadership skill to work with mission customers.
- Strong written and oral communications, and interpersonal skills. Exhibit a high level of innovation, creativeness, and initiative.
- Experience using project management tools such as Jira or MS Project. Comfortable tasking coworkers in an agile work environment.
- Knowledge of DoD cybersecurity policies, including the Risk Management Framework (RMF) or NIST Cyber Security Framework.
For Senior Cybersecurity Engineer: (Project Leader)
- Meet all the above requirements
- 8 or more years of relevant experience in multiple engineering fields such as cybersecurity, systems engineering, software development, embedded systems, or similar.
- Demonstrated ability to initiate and complete tasks, learn new technical approaches, mentor junior staff, lead technical efforts, and interact effectively with a broad range of organization.
- Demonstrated strong communication and leadership skill to work with mission customers.
How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
- Advanced degree from an accredited university.
- Current and active Top-Secret clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information access TS/SCI government clearance.
- Solid understanding of architecture tools for evaluation such as DoDAF, Cameo or other modeling tools & artifacts.
- Cybersecurity certification (CISSP, C|EH, SANS, etc.)
- Solid understanding of space system, technology and test cycles.
- Knowledge of various cyber tools such as Kali Linux and competitive (e.g. capture the flag) cyber experience.
We offer a competitive compensation package where you'll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business. The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.

$103,300 - $154,500 - $205,700
