Job Description
The engineer delivers data security tools in accordance with the organization's architectural designs, best practices, and regulatory or compliance requirements. As risks change, the security engineer is responsible for recommending modifications and enhancements to ensure the organization is evolving with the threat landscape. The security engineer will contribute to the corporate security strategy with security leadership and other senior security staffers and technologists. Support strategy, governance, and drive best practices for protecting company data. Partner with ISO,BU IT and platform teams to assess and close gaps in cloud security posture and data protection across the security disciplines.
Job Summary
Cybersecurity engineer 2 is responsible for implementing, maintaining, monitoring and managing secure solutions. The engineer delivers these solutions in accordance with the organization's architectural designs, best practices, and regulatory or compliance requirements. As risks change, the security engineer is responsible for recommending modifications and enhancements to ensure the organization is evolving with the threat landscape. The security engineer is expected to contribute to the corporate security strategy with security leadership and other senior security staffers and technologists. This position requires a highly knowledgeable individual and must be able to implement, monitor and manage secure solutions that address modern day issues.
Must apply critical thinking to the implementation of solutions so as to avoid creating operational, organizational, or security risks. Should an issue occur, they must be able to escalate quickly and determine methods for rapid remediation and implement those actions to avoid further impact.
• Proven ability to implement new security solutions, perform Installs and manage organization-wide security systems in a large organization• Advanced ability to troubleshoot issues, determine solutions, and determine root cause• Expert data and log analysis skills with the ability to leverage the data to make recommendations for security improvements • Ability to stay focused under pressure• Advanced ability to troubleshoot issues and leverage debugging tools• Possess a thorough understanding of and the ability to implement business security practices, current security tools, hardware/software and their implementation, different communications protocols, encryption techniques/tools and current internet technologies• Ability to understand business processes and provide solutions that align with those processes• Advanced knowledge of more advanced security solutions such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR, data encryption, and other endpoint, network or data security tools • Advanced working knowledge of key IT technologies such as TCP/IP, operating systems, network topologies, Active Directory, scripting languages, and the OSI model• Expert ability to troubleshoot technical problems for the purpose of responding to support incidents• Must have strong analytical skills• Thorough understanding of change management and ability to work under the required guidelines and deliver on business/project requirements• Expert user of key back office applications such as Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook and Word (or similar)• Must possess excellent communication skills• Must possess good time management and organizational skills
• Strong knowledge of current and emerging security threats and techniques for exploiting security vulnerabilities, knowing the attack vectors, understanding key security terminology and principles• Proven experience supporting security initiatives in a largescale, complex, global organization• Advanced experience testing security tools • Excellent problem solving and time management skills• Advanced Security certification (CISSP, CISM, etc)
