This position is located at the School Age Center (SAC) program in Vicenza, Italy. This announcement may be used to fill additional vacancies throughout the program. Management has the right to assign staff to locations as mission requires.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of appointment.
  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
  • Meet qualification/eligibility/physical/background requirements for this position.
  • Must have current health assessment which documents good mental and physical health, freedom from communicable disease, and immunizations in accordance with current Army and DoD policy including annual influenza vaccinations.
  • A one year probationary period may be required (either initially or upon conversion, if applicable).
  • Successful completion of annual training requirements within the prescribed time frame and demonstrated on the job competence is required.
  • May be subject to an irregular hours, evening and or weekends.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) Check.
  • Travel to on and off post locations required.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.

Qualifications

1. Successful completion of an undergraduate Degree that included or was supplemented by major study (at least 24 semester hours) in the fields appropriate to the position, which directly relates to the appropriate CYS field consistent with:- For positions in Child Development Facilities:The education must have been in child development, early childhood education, home economics (early childhood emphasis), elementary education, special education or other fields appropriate to the position to be filled.- For positions in Youth Facilities:The education must have been in youth development, youth administration, education, home economics, physical education, elementary education, special education or other fields appropriate to the position to be filled.2. In addition to the basic requirements stated above the following is required:

  • 12 months of experience in the same or similar work equivalent to at least the next lower grade or level requiring application of the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the position to be filled.
  • Experience in managing an entire cycle of operation of an early childhood program, including budgeting; facility management; supply management; program development; implementation; selection, training, and supervision of personnel; and curriculum oversight.
  • The ability to plan and organize work, analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data and recognize solutions.
  • Comprehensive oral and communications skills and analytical writing skills.
  • Ability to present ideas and proposals to a variety of audiences.

ORCombination of education and experience.3. Successful completion of at least 24 semester hours equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject matter field appropriate to the position as indicated above (1), and directly related work experience that provided knowledge skills and abilities directly related to the duties described.- For positions in Child Development Facilities:The education must have been in child development, early childhood education, home economics (early childhood emphasis), elementary education, special education or other fields appropriate to the position to be filled.- For positions in Youth Facilities:The education must have been in youth development, youth administration, education, home economics, physical education, elementary education, special education or other fields appropriate to the position to be filled.4. In addition to the basic requirements stated above the following is required:

In addition to the qualifications listed above, highly preferred candidates will possess the following and will be sent first for consideration:
  • 2 years experience managing a DoD childcare facility/program.
  • 1 year experience working in a School Age Care (SAC) program (with children in grades 1-5).
