Data Analyst

First Orion is seeking a talented Data Analyst to join a leading mobile software vendor in the Data Solutions Group. This is a dynamic and diverse role requiring extensive analytical, data product and business skills applied through the execution of data including development and creation of data content for use in data products and solutions. These activities are typically product or solution based designed for use by many clients or the focus of a single client who requires custom research and data development to solve a specific business problem.

What you'll be doing:

• Use data science tools and techniques to perform varied analyses to support business requirements, including scoring and predictive models, classification, data mining, clustering, and NLP techniques
• Implement data exploration to discover patterns, build new features for machine learning models, uncover gaps in the solution(s), and identify anomalies within the data warehouse(s)
• Generate visualizations using Scala/Python/SQL and create storyboards to communicate data insights, significant features, and model performance
• Build, own, and maintain Tableau and SQL dashboards for internal reporting and external, client-facing users
• Compile and prepare data from various sources by creating and managing ETL systems, Delta tables, and Databricks jobs for analyses and internal reporting
• Capture critical changes in production processes, manage data-driven alerts, and communicate findings with data engineering and data science teams
• Utilize Git for version control to manage own projects and collaborate with data engineers and data scientists
• Create metadata, data dictionaries, and Confluence pages for technical documentation
• Lead escalation analyses and prepare written reports for intra and inter-team senior management
• Assist in defining new data products or solutions for future business opportunities
• Use Agile/Scrum methodology for project planning and development

What you'll need:

• Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or Economics (strong econometrics focus)
• Experience in working with large datasets
• Programming experience in a language of your choice (Scala/Python/R preferred)
• High curiosity for data discovery
• Ability to perform verbal and visual storytelling with data
• Self-starter able to work independently with limited supervision.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Prior experience in the telecommunications industry
• Amazon Web Services experience
• Spark experience
• Knowledge about big data platforms
