The World Bank Finance & Accounting (WFA) Vice Presidency is responsible for all aspects of the financial reporting and internal control framework for IBRD and IDA, and the extensive Trust Fund/Partnership portfolio of the WB entities. It supports an appropriate fiduciary control framework and administering disbursements for Bank lending and leads the client service function for the WB's corporate expenses. Organizationally, WFA is comprised of three departments: (1) Corporate Accounting and Reporting, (2) Trust Funds and Loans, and (3) Financial Controls. In WFA, our mandate supports both internal and external clients while we focus on delivery, optimization, impact, and people & culture.
Within WFA, the Systems and Transformation (WFAST) Division provides leading capabilities in Project Management, Change Management, Intelligent Automation, Data Governance, Data Analytics, and Process Excellence to support and drive transformation across all WFA units. These initiatives are meant to increase productivity and efficiencies in work program delivery, while maintaining continuity in current WFA business operations.
The WFAST team is seeking a Data Analyst to join its Data and Analytics Hub to lead, support and contribute to activities related to Data Governance, Data Analytics and Finances One (open data platform).
The Data Analyst will play an active role in the Data and Analytics Hub by collaborating with teams across WFA and ITS to assist in building a pipeline of and complete Data Analytics use cases, engage in data privacy training and compliance activities, perform Finances One related actions, and participate in data governance initiatives. The ideal candidate will engage proactively, take initiative, and work with the team and key stakeholders to enable steady progress and successful implementation of various activities of the data program completion of data initiatives.
The Data Analyst will report to the Team Lead of the Data and Analytics Hub.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
• Collaborate closely with the Team Leads, Trained users and ITS to drive and scale up Alteryx adoption in a structured and organized manner.
• Work with business teams to identify data analytics use cases and advise on the most appropriate tool as well as provide support to complete them.
• Actively promote, monitor, and advocate for data governance and analytics to improve quality and reduce/eliminate manual data preparation and presentation.
• Offer guidance and provide expertise for data visualization needs including building and designing dashboards.
• Provide training and support to staff on the use and adoption of data tools (e.g., Alteryx, Power BI, Finances One)
• Provide training on data privacy, maintain the Records of Processing activities, and assist with Data Subject Review requests.
• Work effectively as a liaison between the Data Privacy office and business units to address privacy questions and ensure compliance.
• Play a lead role in publishing quarterly financial statements and other data sets in Finances One
• Consult with data owners, address user queries, and work with ITS and the vendor to address issues with the Finances One platform.
• Assist in the Finances One modernization work as needed.
• Engage in data governance activities such as data quality and metadata management and keep up to date with latest standards and best practices.
• Provide regular status updates, communicate to stakeholders, and escalate issue/risks promptly.
• Proactively engage and collaborate with Data Champions and Communities, and support work to improve Data Awareness and Literacy amongst staff.
• Support all Data & Analytics Hub activities including assisting the Team Lead as needed.
Selection Criteria
• Master's degree in finance, Business, or Engineering
• 4-6 years of experience in data prep, data analytics, and data visualizations using various tools such as Alteryx, Power BI, Tableau, and Python
• Proven experience in understanding data problems including good understanding of approaches, tools, and methodologies.
• Knowledge and applied work experience in data solutions to execute, and advise team in ensuring that all tools, platforms, and approaches are fully leveraged.
• Strong knowledge of and experience in the application and compliance of data privacy policies and procedures
• Ability to use strong interpersonal and teamwork skills to cultivate effective, productive relationships and partnerships and generate excitement around the data program.
• Demonstrated client orientation; sensitivity to working in a multicultural environment; experienced at working with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to prioritize, work well under pressure and capably manage/juggle multiple projects with tight deadlines, excellent time management skills and a keen sense of priorities.
