Job Description Summary:

As a Data Analyst at Venmo, you will apply your strategic and analytical skills to major company challenges. You will act as a business consultant to drive recommendations and implement solutions that ultimately impact the bottom line.

Job Description:

Your way to impact

You will provide business impact around developing expertise in specific areas by leading analytical projects independently, while setting goals, providing benefit estimations, defining workflows, and coordinating timelines in advance.

On top of that, your work will also include discovery of new opportunities to grow and optimize business and risk/reward trade-offs through analytics.

Your day to day

  • Using modeling and analytics to understand how business decisions impact our bottom line. This may include assessing risks of new products, determining fraud policies, or identifying inefficiencies in existing operations.
  • Ensuring the team is delivering on our KPIs by using various data mining and data visualization tools to monitor portfolio performance and identify improvement opportunities
  • Developing hypotheses and set up your own problem frameworks to test for the best solutions. You will also scope the operational feasibility, lead implementation efforts, and monitor the success of your solutions.
  • Creating new solutions rooted in empathy and research that assist all customers as they work to better manage their finances.
  • Translate quantitative information into presentations that are easily understood by general management on a regular basis. Communicate and interact with partners, verbally and written, in a professional manner.
  • Manage the enablement of new or high-risk vertical projects by way of collaboration with cross-functional teams, including sales, compliance, and product.
  • Conduct post-live reporting on newly enabled verticals in which PayPal conducts business through understanding the customer payment flows, exposure and chargeback risks to PayPal.
  • Collaborating in a team environment. As part of our crew, you will learn to energetically rally diverse groups in pursuit of a common goal.
  • Stay current on merchant industry trends that impact the Large Enterprise Merchant segment.
  • Lead special strategic projects and perform other duties as assigned.

What do you need to bring

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a quantitative field (Business, Math, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Science, Engineering)
  • 3+ years of experience in solving problems using a data-driven approach or Master's degree and 2+ years.
  • High proficiency in fundamental SQL. Other technical skills are a plus (Python; Hadoop; R)
