Position Summary

This is a critical role within the Data Reliability Team. The mission of the Data team is to maximize the value of our data and the Data Quality Analyst will drive that by ensuring Banner's data assets are fit for purpose. This role implements workflows that continue to improve and monitor the integrity of the data using our Informatica Data Quality (IDQ) system. This individual serves as a mentor and advises the stakeholders, and other individuals or groups as needed to ensure the highest quality in our data.

This position reports to the Data Analyst Manager.

According to the FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act), this position is classified as:

  • Exempt, based on the Professional Exemption

What You'll Be Doing

  • Designing and implementing quality processes that identify and resolve customer and product data quality issues-communicating findings and proposed solutions with business units and IT through root cause analysis documentation, scorecards, and profiles or other documentation methods to validate understanding
  • Implementing new and enhancing existing IDQ workflows, mappings, and rules to automate the management and monitoring of critical data assets
  • Creating and maintaining process documentation of workflows and mappings using Visio diagrams
  • Creating and maintaining data dictionaries of data rules, definitions, and ownership of product and customer data fields
  • Working closely with the Data and Analytics team to profile, assess, and fix data quality issues within the data sources needed for analytics projects
  • Working collaboratively with Data Reliability Team and stakeholders to ensure that data quality processes are following development standards and best practices
  • Performing ongoing profiling and analysis of customer, product, and reference data, and serving as a subject matter expert for this data.
  • Continuously looking for opportunities to automate manual data activities using IDQ and other data tools
  • Coordinating with various stakeholders to apply established data policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Required

  • 2-3 years of experience with data quality improvement, preferably with both technical and manual processes
  • Proficient in documenting data flows, process flow, and/or workflows using Visio or other diagraming tools
  • Self-starter, who takes the initiative to understand the problem, get to the root cause and layout options for solving challenging data problems
  • Excellent at seeing the big picture and assessing the organizational impact before acting
  • Strong project management, communication, and prioritization skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with people at every level in the organization

Preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business, or related field
  • 1+ years of experience with development of Informatica IDQ mappings and business rules
