About the Job:
As a member of our team, you will work across Capco’s insurance clients and partners to help improve and transform insurance. This role will focus on the conversion and migration of data from legacy systems or Third Party Administrators (TPAs) to new systems. As a Data Analyst you will closely partner with system vendors and client experts to determine how to transform from old to new, how to resolve data and metadata issues, and how to ease the impacts to the insurance carrier and their customers and agents. We leverage deep insurance expertise, creative problem solving, and a foundation of high quality, experienced data analysis to reduce risk and provide value to our client partners. This work is critical in realizing the value of transformational and modernization efforts.
What You’ll Get to Do:
- Using techniques from a range of disciplines, including computer programming, mathematics, and statistics, to define data transformation, resolve data issues, and address data quality issues.
- Engage data using analytical tools and languages to perform data manipulation and analysis.
- Collaborate with Capco and client insurance product experts to ensure conversion/migration requirements are understood along with the implications of key decisions on the conversion and ongoing servicing.
- Collaborate closely with developers to create data analysis, validation, and transformation processes, scripts, and tools.
- Think through data relationships, life cycles, and processes to ensure and improve the application of quality data.
- Perform research to gain context and meaning of data sets.
- Develop and investigate hypotheses that drive product and feature implementation and migration that maintain and increase the value to our clients.
- Support the importance of data processes, data integrity and cleanliness, and the strategic use of data.
- Access and compile large volumes of custom and syndicated data from disparate sources into concise and precise information.
What you’ll bring with You:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or equivalent/related degree required.
- Insurance product knowledge and experience with insurance conversions and migrations are desired.
- Proficient with MS Excel, including working with data tables, power query connections, pivot tables, macros and advanced formulas (VLOOKUPS, INDEX MATCH, SUMIFs)
- Proficient in Data Management tools including ETL, Data Quality analysis, and Metadata analysis.
- 3+ years’ experience with writing complex SQL queries (JOINS, CTEs, PARTITION BY, RANK etc.)
- 3+ years’ experience working with relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL)
- Ability to work both as an individual contributor and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Excellence in problem solving and detail orientation.
- Excellent communication skills; ability to explain technical concepts to a variety of audiences
- Experience working with analysts in a research/modelling environment that leverages tools such as R, SAS, or SPSS is preferred
