Data Analyst

Reports To: SVP - Information TechnologyPosition Summary: We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Data Analyst to support our energy trading operations. This role requires a strong foundation in data management and analysis, with a focus on SQL, Python, Excel, and Power BI. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in energy trading environments and a deep understanding of market dynamics and business operations.Key Responsibilities: • Design, develop, and maintain SQL queries, tables, and views to support trading analytics and reporting. • Import, clean, transform, and export large datasets from various internal and external sources. • Build and automate data pipelines to streamline data flow and ensure data integrity. • Develop dashboards and reports using Power BI, Excel, and Python to support decision-making across trading desks. • Collaborate with traders, risk managers, and IT teams to understand data needs and deliver actionable insights. • Monitor market data feeds and ensure timely and accurate data availability for trading strategies. • Support compliance and audit requirements through accurate data documentation and traceability.Required Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field. • 3+ years of experience in a data analyst or similar role, preferably in an energy trading environment. • Proficiency in SQL for querying, data modeling, and performance tuning. • Strong skills in Python for data analysis and automation. • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, macros, and complex formulas. • Experience with Power BI for building interactive dashboards and visualizations. • Experience with importing/exporting data across systems and formats (e.g., CSV, APIs, databases). • Deep understanding of energy markets, trading operations, and market data structures.Preferred Qualifications: • Familiarity with energy trading platforms (e.g., ETRM systems). • Knowledge of risk management and regulatory reporting in energy trading.
