We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Data Analyst II on our Publishing and Mission Operations team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 2 days a month in the office.
As a Data Analyst II youwill provide analytical, technical, and statistical support for initiatives aspart of Improving Health Outcomes (IHO) strategic focus area. You will supportthe project teams to gain a firm understanding of IHO strategies and tools thatwill contribute to the guidance, development and implementation of appropriateprogram evaluation metrics and processes.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Statistical andAnalytical Support
- Provide statistical expertise for development of research project design, and the analysis of data in support of AMA IHO led evaluation and research projects.
- Apply quantitative and qualitative analytic skills to design and carry out evaluation projects for IHO health care quality improvement initiatives and model the CVD risk prevention and reduction impacts of these interventions on patient risk and health care spending.
- Assure that sampling, data collection, and methods of analysis yield unbiased and reliable results.
- Compile and analyze statistical data; design or refine methods for analyzing data.
- Independently perform statistical analysis based on approved statistical analysis plans.
- Participate in AMA IHO research project teams and lead efforts in research design and data analysis.
Report AnalyticalFindings and Results
- Interpret and explain the implications of analytical findings and results appropriately for various audiences.
- Assist in preparing and writing internal and external communications and reports and/or manuscripts for peer-reviewed articles.
- Support efficiency improvement processes in AMA health quality improvement programs; provide guidance on policies and procedures related to the processes to assure they align with the desired objective and outcomes; assist in developing a process step tracking tool.
- Identify opportunities for impacting care team behavior to realize improved efficiencies in program adoption and implementation; continuous improvement; identify and quantify barriers and solutions.
- Provide technical support in developing externally funded proposals.
Special Projects
- Provide technical support to IHO staff. Complete special projects as assigned.
May include other responsibilities as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Applied Statistics or Economics with a specialization in program evaluation, evaluation methods, health services research, health policy administration, economics, or other related field required. Master's Degree highly preferred.
- A minimum five years of experience in one of the following areas is required: health care information and analytics; academic research; hospital, health plan, or physician group administration.
- Experience in CVD risk prediction and modeling impact of CVD risk reduction; estimate potential impact of quality improvement interventions on patient risk and health care spending. Familiarity with Framingham Risk Score, and ASCVD Risk Estimator.
- Demonstrated experience in healthcare data management and statistical analysis analyzing national healthcare databases (eg. Medicare, NHANES, BRFSS, MarketScan/IBM, etc.) including panel, cross-sectional, uni- and multivariate statistical techniques.
- Demonstrated experience in statistical analysis required using statistical analysis software, such as SAS, R, or STATA; query tools such as Oracle and SQL; and application of business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Google Analytics, and Salesforce. Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Ability to translate results to actionable programs with health care equity lens.
- Ability to work on multiple analytic projects at one time through all stages of development. Detail-oriented individual with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated experience to function both as a team player and as a strong individual contributor; experience in collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills needed to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook).
