The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) is seeking a Research and Data Analyst. The individual will be contributing to a team that is responsible for the major, recurring data collections, surveys, and data reports which address a variety of topics, such as applicants, students, graduates, residents, faculty, hospital operations, medical school finances, and organizational characteristics. The analyst will be responsible for handling the day-to-day operations of the Faculty Roster data, which includes processing school files containing educational, demographic, and appointment information for medical school full-time faculty, contacting and working with schools to resolve issues with anomalous data, and preparing standard and ad hoc reports. Candidates should be detail-oriented and have skills in data analysis, programming (such as Oracle SQL or similar language skills), and project management.

How will you make an impact?

  • Facilitate efforts with colleagues and constituents to develop, execute, maintain, and enhance data operations and services that provide compelling and actionable information for the academic medical community.

  • Manage recurring data services, such as the Faculty Roster.

  • Serve as a Data Steward for key AAMC data assets. As Data Steward, the individual is responsible for obtaining any needed training and carrying out the functions of a data steward successfully in a manner consistent with the policies and procedures of the AAMC and the guidance of the Chief or Data Steward Lead, and meeting the responsibilities of Data Steward that are outlined in the Data Steward Policy.

  • Update and maintain office manuals that document policies and procedures for data collections, data management, and data reporting.

  • Collect and report data in compliance with AAMC and applicable federal or IRB policies and procedures.

  • Help design, test, launch, enhance, and manage survey and reporting tools in various platforms.

  • Produce and maintain programming files for importing, data checking, and analyzing data in syntax such as SQL, PL/SQL, VBA, Python, HTML, and JavaScript.

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of data management and data reporting applications to meet internal and external information needs.

  • Develop and maintain quality control checks and project management schedules to ensure that surveys and reports are launched in a sound and timely manner.

  • Provide day-to-day support to survey participants, report recipients, and application users with log-in issues, content-related questions, reminders, extensions, or similar operational concerns.

  • Review articles, papers, presentations, and other materials for accuracy of analysis and interpretation.

  • Respond to ad hoc requests for special reports, presentations, report access, and other data services.

What you'll bring to the role

  • A Bachelor’s Degree is required.

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of related work experience is required.

 

Remote Work Eligibility

This position is eligible for remote work in the contiguous US

Compensation Grade Range and Mid-Point

Grade Range:$63,600.00 - $111,800.00/ Grade Mid-Point:$87,700.00

The above annual compensation range and mid-point are general guidelines. For candidates who meet the criteria, the AAMC's compensation philosophy is to target the midpoint of the salary range. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, as well as internal equity, market, and business considerations.

If a bachelor’s degree is required, related work experience may be substituted in some positions. One year of college course work at an accredited institution is equivalent to one year of related work experience.
