Job Description Summary:

The TBM analyst investigates usage of platform services and related cost-modeling to manage and improve infrastructure cost transparency for the team's existing Showback tool. Working with service stakeholders to define and improve allocation rules, drive transparency through KPIs and to create and maintain detailed cost reports to all levels of leadership across the organization.

What you need to know about the role:

This role that embraces the core principles of TBM and FinOps, understand that providing cost transparency for technology has a direct impact on business by providing value to decision makers. This role will straddle the world of engineering/data analysis and finance and get to use and help manage industry standard TBM tools.

We are engineers at heart but fill a niche role of providing costs that leverage business logic and other creative solutions. We are a small team reporting up to the CIO office but our reach is broad and teams across the org want more from us - you will help get us there.

Your way to impact:

In this role, you will have line of site to at least one Company-defined enterprise initiative. The means that what you work on every day, matters. This is a high-visibility role - you'll be asked to present to leaders within your org and outside the org.

Your day-to-day:

Assist in preparing and presenting monthly/quarterly showback updates to senior leadership to on spend and spend trends including deep dives periodically into certain areas

Maintain weekly dashboards and showback monthly reports for platform suppliers and consumers

Analyze utilization datasets to develop new or refine existing allocation methodologies in collaboration with our stakeholders

Work with data owners to identify and analyze key data sets to ensure data is accurate, useful, and received in a timely manner

Operationalize data by loading, validating, and reviewing on timely basis

Implement TBM and FinOps standards and best practices; tailor to PayPal accordingly

Keep platform teams engaged through regular meetings where you will discuss their KPIs and showback cost data

Work with technical team members on cost strategy and implementation logic within our industry standard TBM tools

Additional Job Description:

What do you need to bring:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a quantitative field
• 2 - 3 years experience as a financial analyst
• 1+ years as a data analyst
• Data Transformation or ETL experience
• Experience with TBM tools like ApptioOne & Cloudability
• Data visualization experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to tell meaningful and accurate stories with data, analysis and visualization to senior leaders
• Ability to work cross-functionally with external teams and infrastructure teams to gather relevant data for the data science team
• Comfort working independently and in a remote office / work-from-home environment
• Programming skills in Python and data visualization (nice to have)
• Master's degree or equivalent experience in a quantitative field (nice to have)
