Data Analyst/Business Intelligence Analyst
Job Description
With fast paced growth, the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) is adding new talented professionals. We are hiring a Data Analyst/Business Intelligence Analyst to join our team. Reporting to the Business Intelligence Manager, this person is primarily responsible for building innovative analytical solutions. The range of solutions may encompass the strategy and creation of products utilizing customized data sets, descriptive dashboards, predictive analytics, and other customized reporting. Secondarily, this resource will also work to support internal business intelligence initiatives to inform and influence sales/marketing/product/operations/finance strategies across the business.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement analytics solutions/products to help business teams better understand their data and improve learner outcomes
- Work closely with the Business Intelligence Manager and project teams as well as internal customers to integrate data solutions into the business teams
- Strategically influence an analytics roadmap that drives value to the business unit and its customers, differentiating the business unit from its competition
- Assist in ensuring business teams are fully trained on analytics solutions and support user implementation, adoption, including monitoring usage patterns to drive continuous improvement
- Analyze complex business questions and effectively communicate meaningful insights to decision-makers, including business teams and senior leadership team
- Continually ideate and identify ways in which analytics can drive value for NASM and/or NASM customers
- Create and execute comprehensive test plans, validate data extraction and visualization accuracy, conduct performance and user acceptance testing, track and address discrepancies, and maintain a feedback loop with users and developers
- Document procedures, data definitions, and user guidance for the developed BI solutions
- Demonstrate a proactive approach to understanding and adopting new technologies, methodologies, and tools
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Analytics, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Statistics or related field
- 4+ years of experience providing actionable analysis and/or business intelligence for organizations

Skills and Abilities (technical):
- General understanding of relational database structures and standardized querying languages (MS SQL, MySQL, Oracle, Snowflake, Google Cloud)
- Comprehension of data visualization best practices and experience with one of more data visualization tools (Excel, Tableau, Power BI, draw.io, etc.)
- An understanding of machine learning and predictive modeling techniques, including experience with one or more open-source data science languages (R, Python)
- Experience in leveraging analytics to tell a compelling story and drive strategic business decisions
